Architect - Turbonomic, Workload Placement & Virtualization, CTI - Service Delivery Tech Ops

Job Description:

The Turbonomic, Workload Placement & Virtualization Architect will be designing and implementing solutions for internal cloud capacity and placement using advanced tooling with an eye toward isolating tooling dependency.

This role works closely with internal Cloud capacity, operations and service layer / portal teams. Confers with subject matter experts and external vendors to develop and deliver an API-centric capacity and placement solution.  

Key responsibilities include:  

  • Ensuring software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements.
  • Designing and coding solutions, unit tests, and release tests and working to ensure the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear, robust and well-tested interfaces.
  • Understanding development and testing practices of the bank and adhering to all security policies from development through deployment.
  • Contributing to story refinement/defining requirements and designing solutions.
  • Estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle.
  • Creating proofs of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas.
  • Coding solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements.
  • Utilizing multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements.
  • Resolving technical issues in a structured way.
  • Creating test suites (integration, regression, performance), analyzing test reports, identifying any test issues/errors, and triaging the underlying cause.
  • Documenting and communicating required information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality.
  • Participating, contributing and coaching team members in the delivery/release (CI-CD) events. e.g.

Required Job Skills:

  • Technical expertise in Turbonomic from both the GUI and API sides
  • 5+ years of experience with initial workload placement in a virtualized environment
  • 5+ years of experience with very large enterprises (80k+ virtual machines) and scaling to meet its needs
  • Fluent in Python 3 for REST applications using Flask, Requests, SQL, Java, JavaScript
  • Expert in Test Driven Design (TDD) approach
  • Expert in Agile methodology and using Jira to create user stories, track requirements, design and development
  • Works within the software delivery lifecycle to move code through development, UAT and production
  • Comfortable with Git code repositories and workflow
  • Competently documents solutions and is able to discuss them with other teams
  • Familiarity with virtualization concepts and ideally VMware vSphere environments
  • Conversant in virtualization capacity and placement

Desired Job Skills:

  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and Jenkins
  • Prior experience in capacity/placement
  • Prior work experience in an operations role
  • Networking knowledge DNS, DHCP, IPAM, SDN (ideally NSX)
  • Open Source software and code management platforms
  • Experience with VMware code management products (Codestream, vRLCM)
  • vRealize Network Insight, vRealize Log Insight, vRealize Operations experience
  • Experience with Authentication / Authorization Protocols (OAuth, SAML, Kerberos)

Provides input on staffing, budget and personnel. Typically 7 or more years of architecture experience.
