Business Strategy Manager

Job Description:

The Business Strategy and Initiatives Manager acts as an objective advisor to Enterprise, LOB and/or ECF Compliance leaders. Functions that are managed may include: financial oversight & integration, compliance process oversight, staffing process execution, service quality, process improvement, business continuity, SPOC control, workplace management and communication. The Business Strategy and Initiatives Manager drives execution of key strategic initiatives. This role leads reporting and analytical efforts and leads the design, development, execution and continuous improvement of reporting and dashboards The Business Strategy and Initiatives Manager executes business/strategic planning process within Enterprise, LOB or ECF Compliance functions. This role may contribute as a manager responsible for providing leadership direction to attract, assess, develop, motivate and retain a small team, or may act as an individual contributor.

The Global Risk Management (GRM) Business Strategy Manager will be responsible for the development and execution of strategic initiatives as part of the GRM COO, Business Controls, Governance and Regulatory Relations team.

In the role, the individual will be responsible for executing on broad goals supporting GRM and Enterprise business strategies and areas of focus. Once strategic objectives are determined, the individual’s accountabilities will likely include managing large and/or multiple programs and initiatives that have significant impact on all or segments of GRM.

The individual must have the proven ability to anticipate and provide solutions to complicated problems, propose solutions with a risk-management mindset, develop Executive level presentation materials and be capable of presenting in a clear and compelling manner to Executive management.

The successful candidate will be a strong, decisive, results oriented leader who can develop and manage relationships across the company and with a wide variety of partners based on trust, teamwork and knowledge.


Responsibilities Include:
• Support GRM COO in setting and driving strategic priorities with a risk-management mindset; Contribute to short and long-term operational planning and strategy; Supports management and tracking of strategic priorities and influences progression where appropriate, owning key projects as needed
• Ability to think strategically across and within GRM to identify and execute on strategic opportunities; Ability to challenge the status quo, produce appropriate changes and implement goals
• Lead strategy and execution on projects with scope that is GRM-wide and/or can be specific to GRM Business Controls or Operations; Potential to lead initiatives, both on an end-to-end basis, and/or manage discrete sub-components of strategic initiatives or GRM-specific efforts
• Ability to develop comprehensive plans around key engagement/development priorities and ensure all accountable parties understand respective roles/responsibilities
• Ability to independently develop presentations that are both visually appealing and effective and present to Executive leaders as needed
• Coordinates and drives effective management routines related to strategy and initiatives as appropriate
• Represent the team in key meetings interfacing with senior management as needed
• Build relationships with key partners and integrate with the broader GRM organization in a highly matrixed environment

Required and desired qualifications and skills:

• 10+ years of experience in consulting, strategy or financial services environment with a proven track record of advancement, leadership and business success

•  Understanding of risk within large, complex, institutional financial services environment
• Proven leader; an individual who can inspire a strong sense of camaraderie, accountability and motivation to continuously improve performance and coach across groups and teams.
• Effectively and efficiently coordinates and drives execution of engagement/development priorities across and within the GRM organization
• Strong partnership and relationship building skills with the ability to influence; Able to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships
• Team player comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, flexible and collaborative work environment; able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Excellent communication and presentation skills including excellent listening and consultative capabilities, writing skills and the ability to communicate verbally in a direct, succinct manner.
