Software Engineer III- Charlotte, NC

Job Description:

Responsible for designing and developing complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Ensures that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. Ensures solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Possess strong proficiency in development and testing practices common to the industry, and have extensive experience of using design and architectural patterns. At this level, specializations start to form in either Architecture, Test Engineering or DevOp. Contributes to story refinement/defining requirements. Participates and guides team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle. Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas. Codes solutions and unit tests to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements. Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements. Assists team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work. Designs/develops/modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained. Designs/develops/maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance). Sets up and develops a continuous integration/continuous delivery pipeline. Automates manual release activities. Mentors other Software Engineers and coaches team on CI-CD practices and automating tool stack. Individual contributor.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for platform stability, helping Production support team with issue management, resolution, triages, break fixes and Root Cause Analysis
  • Responsible for break-fix activities which require supervising development and testing activities on PROD bugs fixes and enhancements
  • Responsible for Operational Readiness, Capacity/Availability Management, Application Monitoring, Service Analytics and Reporting, Production Governance, Monitoring and support applications for 100% SLA meets
  • Identifies possible production failure scenarios and continuously plan to improve application up time
  • Identifies vulnerabilities and opportunities for improvement, as well as maintain metrics to do analysis that will drive improvement in all areas of running application smoothly in Production
  • Creates and enhances administrative, operational and technical policies and procedures, adopting best practice guidelines, standards and procedures
  • Takes ownership of escalations and perform trouble shooting, analysis, research and resolution using advanced query and programming skills
  • Performs analytical, technical, and administrative work in planning, installing, designing and supporting new and existing equipment and software upgrades under moderate supervision. Resolves complex issues
  • Consults with Operations and Production support to determine optimal configuration of equipment and applications
  • Self-motivated, proactive, attention to detail, good documentation & communication skills
  • Ability to think of process improvements to improve platform stability and resiliency
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
  • Should have increased awareness and exposure to basic technical principles, concepts and techniques
  • May provide coaching and mentoring for other employees but does not directly manage others    

Required Skills:

  • 5-10 years relevant technology experience in designing, developing, testing and maintenance, preferably in a development organization
  • Banking domain knowledge, WIRES processing across channels including WIRE ROOM and Online based payments, interfaces and flows
  • Experience with WIRES / Cross Border Payments / SWIFT domain payments, working with multiple technology delivery teams while working with business, operations
  • Experience with WIRES large platforms management MTS, UPF payments system and infrastructure
  • Heavy development experience in UNIX and LINUX environments and development toolsets, Shell, Bash, Perl, Python programming
  • Knowledge in SUBJECT, COBOL programming techniques for MTS system
  • Deep understanding of Synchronous / Asynchronous communication patterns using MQ, NDM and problem solving abilities with respect to Message Sequencing, Correlation, and Queuing
  • Experience with midrange-based systems J2EE, JBOSS, Oracle, APIs, Services
  • Development experience following Agile as well as Waterfall methods
  • Experience with Autosys, Prognosis, UPF preferred
  • Familiarity with WIRE operations exceptions processing and support needs for back office
  • Knowledge of clearing houses (CHIPS, FEDWIRE) related compliance and mandates
  • Deep knowledge of Technology platforms, applications, processes, and procedures
  • Effective performance in matrix environment leveraging strong knowledge of technology platforms, applications, processes, and governance
  • Proven track record of working with high performing teams
  • Ability to build/maintain partnerships in a client-driven environment; experience with handling clients and demonstrating partnership during situations
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to collaborate, influence, drive impact and report on evidence based value
