Quality Specialist II

Job Description:

The QA Specialist / Test Lead is a team member who brings a ‘testing mindset’ to the team and is responsible for testing and delivering complex software requirements to accomplish business outcomes. They are a subject matter expert on testing practices ensuring the testing strategy (waterfall/ Agile) and processes are well-defined and continuously improved for the team. 

Key responsibilities of the role include establishing a test and automation strategy, creating common test frameworks, defining and managing test processes including defect management, creating agile stories and reporting for a variety of projects across multiple lines of businesses and technology platforms.

The Test Lead is expected to learn the business and technical components of an application, create testing artifacts and execute all required testing activities in accordance with existing standards.

Required Skills -

  • Experience in reviewing functional and design specifications to ensure full understanding and delivery of testing project deliverables (ex. Test Plan, Test Cases).
  • Experience in understanding and identifying test data needed for testing and writing quality positive and negative test cases.
  • Experience in hands on functional testing, systems integration testing, regression testing.
  • Expertise with XML and Backend database testing in Microsoft SQL environment including validating stored procedures, jobs and triggers.
  • Identify test requirements from specifications, map test case requirements and design test coverage plan.
  • Develop, document and maintain Test Plans, functional test cases and other test artifacts including test data and automated scripts.
  • Execute and evaluate manual or automated test cases and report test results.
  • Hold and facilitate test plan and test case reviews with cross-functional team members.
  • Ability to execute test cases in a timely manner, analyze test results, identify defects and experience in defect lifecycle.
  • Good knowledge of test management tools such as HP ALM/Quality Center / JIRA and test automation tools such as SOA Test, TOSCA and RIT.
  • Good communication skills and an ability to participate in defect triage calls to explain defects to development teams, business team and escalate as necessary.
  • Ensure that validated deliverables meet functional and design specifications and requirements.
  • Experience testing mainframe distributed and middleware (services) technologies and integrated applications.
  • Experience with agile methodologies and standards to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Good understanding of the software development process

  • Comfortable working in matrix environment
  • Prior Experience in Financial Services, Banking and other Customer impact areas
