Java/J2EE Software Engineer III - Global Markets Reference Data Tech

Position Summary
PME (“Product Master Environment”) is the firm-wide provider of product (financial security) & pricing reference data, which is critical to 500+ consuming applications spanning multiple lines of business (Global Markets, Global Wealth & Investment Management, etc) from the front office (trading apps, etc) to the back office. PME is positioned within the broader Global Markets Reference Data Organization which also includes Party, Client Account and Firm Account reference data. PME is looking to hire a senior application development lead to join the team responsible for this evolving software platform. PME is evolving from a traditional JAVA/Oracle implementation to a horizontally scalable and high-performance platform leveraging cutting edge technologies such as Scala and RDF. This is a hands-on technical lead role, the successful candidate will immediately be responsible for delivering a portfolio of projects necessary to maintain the PME platform. This will include handling a significant amount of market and vendor changes, NPT remediation, Information Security vulnerabilities, LOB enhancement requests, system bug fixes and overseeing L3 support and will also include being responsible for driving overall platform Stability changes. Deep financial securities knowledge and effective communication skills are essential. Experience in reference data, and particularly as it relates to Risk and the Fixed Income business will be highly beneficial.
Must Have:
• 12+ years of Java/J2EE programming with good understanding of Data Structures, Data Collections, Object Oriented Design, Object Oriented Programming.
• 5+ years of Strong Oracle(SQL & PL/SQL) is required.
• 3+ years of python experience Or 2+ years of Quartz.
• 2+ years of experience in technical leadership role.
• Experience with CI/CD (continuous integration and delivery)
• Experience with Building Micro services
• Strong understanding of relational data models
• Experience with Performance tuning
• Financial securities knowledge is required. For ex., Fixed Income or Equities instrument data.
• Data Structures, Data Collections
• Strong problem-solving & communication skills.
• Enjoys working in a collaborative environment.
• Ability to mentor junior developers.
• Flexible, self-starter, fast-learner.
• Willing to and be able to quickly learn new technologies.
Nice to Have:
• Experience with functional programming is a big plus, Scala is a big plus.
• Experience with MVEL is a plus.
• Instrument reference data is a huge plus.
• Prior experience on AMPS Caching is a plus
• Informatica / ETL knowledge is a plus.
• Prior experience on FAME is a plus
Responsible for designing and developing complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Ensures that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. Ensures solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Possess strong proficiency in development and testing practices common to the industry, and have extensive experience of using design and architectural patterns. At this level, specializations start to form in either Architecture, Test Engineering or DevOp. Contributes to story refinement/defining requirements. Participates and guides team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle. Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas. Codes solutions and unit tests to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements. Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements. Assists team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work. Designs/develops/modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained. Designs/develops/maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance). Sets up and develops a continuous integration/continuous delivery pipeline. Automates manual release activities. Mentors other Software Engineers and coaches team on CI-CD practices and automating tool stack. Individual contributor.
