Job Title: Tax and Legal Entity Controller

LOB: The CFO Group / Global Financial Control

Corporate Title: Vice President  

Location: London

A new opportunity has become available for a Tax and Legal Controller to join the Global Financial Control (GFC) team based in the London office. This role will be responsible for performing stakeholder interface for all tax reporting and tax-related issues in respect of EMEA legal entities. You will also support interaction between Corporate Tax, Legal Entity Controllers, GFCI (India), upstream data providers for tax deliverables (largely within CFO), and the external outsourced tax advisor/consultant who performs much of the tax compliance function.

Overview of the Role:

Further, the role is required to support the broader Controller function with particular focus on the Banking entities. Specific responsibilities of the team include;

  • Statutory annual financial statements production, technical discussions and board sessions.

  • Review and enhancement of control framework

  • Accounting developments

  • Provide guidance and input to the monthly reporting

  • Liaise with external auditors, providing directly and managing supply of auditable support from other functions.

  • Assist on wide variety of ad hoc projects

  • Responsible for ongoing liaison between the external outsourced tax advisor/consultant, Corporate Tax team (in UK and US), GFC Legal Entity Controllers (onshore and GFCI) and GFCI tax team

  • Acting as the stakeholder interface for all tax reporting and tax-related issues in respect of EMEA legal entities

  • Responsible for elements of the supervisory review of the work performed by the offshore GFCI team, and will direct the GFCI team to address new or changed requirements

  • Works closely with GFCI legal entity controllers

  • Supports BofAE DAC/BANA London Controller as needed

Core Skills:

  • Degree Level requirement and preferred Accounting qualification in CIMA, ACCA or ACA

  • Ability to apply sound judgement, pursue goals and consistently deliver results

  • Demonstrate ability to work in a team and collaborate, while contributing individually and across other teams

  • Ability to self-manage and prioritise

  • Problem solve with lateral thinking to create solutions

  • Provide effective challenge and display confidence to challenge

  • Confident communication skills – both written and verbal

  • Flexibility and good negotiations skills

  • High level of ownership and attention to detail

  • Legal entity financial reporting or tax reporting experience desirable

  • Experience within a Finance or similar function within an International Corporate/Investment Bank desirable
