Lead Splunk Developer

The Splunk ITSI Lead Developer will work Splunk developers and with operations teams to perform requirements gathering sessions to develop the scope and design of new and existing dashboards, alerts, reports, and data sources.  Lead the effort to understand the business process flow, design and develop an End-2-End network services visibility, including large scale processing, integration, analysis of system logs and network device metrics in Splunk. This role will lead the Spunk development team and work closely with ITSI architects.

  • Conduct a service decomposition for Splunk ITSI
  • Create and upload services and entities in Splunk ITSI
  • Create services and dependencies in Splunk ITSI
  • Fine-tune prebuilt Splunk ITSI KPIs, KPIs Based Search, and ad hoc KPIs
  • Create custom KPIs Based Search in Splunk ITSI
  • Create KPIs and services templates
  • Design glass table in Splunk ITSI
  • Develop visualization dashboards and indicators that identify anomalous activities using statistical behavior models, and machine learning.
  • Ingest data from data sources
  • Create custom add-ons for non-standard data sources
  • Create custom alerts, reports, and reports
  • Mentor users and other groups on their use of Splunk.
  • Required Job Skills
    • 5 or more years Splunk 7.x/8.x development experience
    • 3 or more years ITSI experience
    • Expert level knowledge and understanding of Splunk “Search” language and building complex queries.
    • Implement KV stores, lookups, and data model acceleration to optimize search performance and reporting.
    • Knowledge of how to customize Dashboards via the simple XML, advanced XML source, JavaScript, CSS, advanced HTML.
    • Expert-level capabilities with regular expression and statistical functions.
    • Strong problem solving, logic, and analytical skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication. – Must be able to communicate at all organizational levels
    • Self-motivated, confident and reliable
    • Willing to work in a team-oriented environment with global team members
    • Must be able to speak to Splunk data life cycle.
    • Results oriented, business focused, and successful at interfacing across multiple organizational units at various levels

  • Desired Job Skills
    • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred
    • Experience in a high volume Splunk environment
    • Experience with ITSM Remedy or other ITSM tools 
    • Syslog experience
    • Git and CI/CD experience
