Job Title: Messaging Engineer

Location: Chester, Bromley, Camberley

Overview of the Role:

The Messaging Administrator designs, builds and maintains Messaging platforms for MQ, Kafka, IIB & Tibco.  This role provides business and product support for IBM MQ, IBM Integration Broker, Kafta, Tibco EMS & Tibco RV in (predominantly) LINUX , Windows, zOS environment (1200+ servers).

Responsibilities:

  • Translating the requirements into one of the infrastructure design, build it, and perform QA/QC tests to ensure platform meets the requirements
  • Working closely with new clients to on board them to messaging platforms, help application teams do performance testing
  • Setting up, monitoring, troubleshooting environment issues on Linux and Windows environment, and managing access
  • Participating in an on call 24x7 support, rotational environment
  • Managing triage and vendor problem management, performance monitoring and tuning
  • Leading and supporting tool design, metrics, process improvement, monitoring strategies and internal documentation

Required Job Skills:

  • Experience designing, building & administrating utilizing:
    • IBM MQ
    • IIB
    • Confluent Kafka
    • Tibco RV
    • Tibco EMS
  • Ability to work in a 24x7 on call environment

Desired Job Skills:

  • Conversant with middleware technologies. Specifically:
    • Nastel Navigator
    • BMC Appwatch
    • Websphere Application Server
    • Knowledge of tools, scripting or programming languages
    • Atrium Orchestrator
    • AppDynamics
    • Splunk
    • JIRA
    • Python

Overview of the Team:

The EMEA Messaging Operations Team is part of the wider Application & Database Services Organization that spans the globe. We have teams in all 3 regions, AMRS, EMEA and APAC, supporting the major Lines of Business within the bank. As part of the global organization, we design, build and operationally support IBM MQ, Kafka & TIBCO RV/EMS.

Core Skills:

  • Apache Kafka (ideally, Confluent, but Cloudera and IBM Kafka Streams are also advantageous)
