What you can expect

The Risk and Finance Technology team is seeking to expand its footprint in the Singapore location. The team are looking for an individual to join our existing team in that location with a hunger for learning, and a passion for software development.

BUCS sub-ledger systems support the Equities, Rates, Debt and Equity derivative and cash businesses from which they are fed millions of trades, valuations and cash from up-stream trading systems which the product controller then uses to view and make adjustments to their books and records. The system in turn, posts these journals to down-stream general ledger systems for management reporting and control functions, and downstream credit risk, market risk, and regulatory reporting systems.

The BUCS team have a global presence with members situated in United Kingdom, India and Singapore. In cooperation with our business analysts (United Kingdom, New York, India) our team supports, develops and maintains a multi-region system utilizing a single global code base.

The BUCS team are an AGILE team practicing Scrum participating in a sprint duration of 2 weeks with monthly releases.

The BUCS system consists of a 10TB compressed SQL Server database.  However, this role also offers the opportunity to additionally work with the below list of technologies in the enhancement, support and development of the application, Autosys, GIT, Bit Bucket, Ansible, React, Jenkins,, Quartz, Python

What you will do

  • Developing and deploying large, business critical solutions through partnership with our business analyst team, our user base, and technologists from other teams.  A large part of this role will be working on short to medium term initiatives delivering change for our wider user community.  Supporting existing functionality and expanding this it to deliver new features.  New functionality development as required by the ever changing regulatory, financial, and business needs of the organization.  This functionality would cover new business functionality, purely technical change such as performance improvement, infrastructure upgrades, or security concerns driven by internal technology audits.
  • Leading and directing architectural change.  To be successful in this role you will need to possess the skills to be able to lead your own projects, provide project estimation, drive change, and deliver stakeholder reporting.
  • Promoting change within the team, being innovative in creating bespoke solutions using the latest techniques and technologies in a SQL server environment.  You will need to be able to think outside of the box design and develop solutions that challenge the norm, and existing practices.
  • Writing automated tests and promoting good development practice and agile behavior.  The role will involve creating, executing, and documenting unit testing for all technological change, be it either manually initiated, or automated testing.
  • Troubleshooting and supporting the application’s components.   The BUCS application contains thousands of SQL functions, Stored Procedures and tables. The role will involve ensuring the timely resolution of technical issues raised by our separate tech team supporting the application’s batch runs, such as solutions to performance issues, and upstream data quality problems.
  • Supporting our Business users support queries.   You will need good analytical skills to be able to decode the existing functionality and work with our business analyst team, and users be able to determine the root cause of any issues, and drive the team towards potential solutions.

  • Assisting our Audit and Regulatory team’s reporting requirements.
