Lead Developer / Technology Manager

Job Description:

GBAM Reference Data Technology seeks a Lead Developer to own all aspects of SDLC for our Client Onboarding (COB) & Cesium technology stack. The COB & Cesium organization are the firm-wide provider of Client, Account, & Product  reference data, which is critical to 600+ consuming applications spanning multiple lines of business (Global Markets, Global Wealth & Investment Management, etc.) from the front office (trading apps, etc.) to the back office.

The ideal candidate must have strong execution skills as well as ability to set strategy. Must be technical with an ability to provide technical guidance and make proper technical decisions.

The Cesium platform team needs a Lead Developer to lead numerous high tech, high innovative solutions supporting reference and all of GBAM Data. These solutions do and will serve as the infrastructure for new enterprise program applications (Reference Data, Client/Account Onboarding, NFRR, CAT etc.).

The Candidate will be accountable for end-to-end solution design and delivery of complex features, including automation, for either for multiple teams, at the program level.

Required Skills:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in designing, developing and managing business critical application(s) with a team of 5-7 developers
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills and enjoys a collaborative environment
  • Flexible, self-starter, fast-learner – willing and able to quickly learn new technologies and skills
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Experience with Scala (strongly preferred) and Java, Javascript, Angular JS, JQuery, Python, RDBMS, etc.
  • Experience with functional programming is a plus
  • Familiarity with Semantic Web (RDF) and SPARQL is a plus
  • Experience with distributed computing is a plus
  • Familiarity with Zookeeper/Spark/HDFS is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of Client & Trade life-cycle functions
  • Strong data analytical skills are highly desirable
  • Experience with enhancing and maintaining mission-critical software in a fast-paced environment is a plus
  • Tech Management working in a Technical Environment
  • To be able to work in team environment and co-ordinate with developers on the day to day deliverables
  • Ability to drive and promote strategy
  • Ability to analyze business requirements and propose various solutions
  • Ability to run demos and road shows and train business users

LOB Definition:

Responsible for designing and developing complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Ensures that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. Ensures solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Possess strong proficiency in development and testing practices common to the industry, and have extensive experience of using design and architectural patterns. At this level, specializations start to form in either Architecture, Test Engineering or DevOp. Contributes to story refinement/defining requirements. Participates and guides team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle. Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas. Codes solutions and unit tests to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements. Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements. Assists team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work. Designs/develops/modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained. Designs/develops/maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance). Sets up and develops a continuous integration/continuous delivery pipeline. Automates manual release activities. Mentors other Software Engineers and coaches team on CI-CD practices and automating tool stack. Individual contributor.
