Card Linked Offers Data Engineer

Job Description:

Position Summary

Bank of America is seeking a Data Engineer with proven expertise working on complex software products and delivering on complex initiatives. This role will support and grow our card linked offers space with our BankAmeriDeals product.

This role is responsible for leading efforts to develop and deliver data solutions for customer purchase data in the card space. Key responsibilities include code design and delivery tasks associated with the integration, cleaning, transformation and control of debit and credit card purchase data in operational and analytics data systems. They work with stakeholders, Product Owners and Software Engineers to aid in the implementation of data requirements, analyze performance, conduct research and troubleshoot any issues. These individuals are proficient in data engineering practices, and have extensive experience of using design and architectural patterns.

Will not have direct reports but may lead projects and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations. May collaborate with external developers to coordinate delivery of software. Routine accountability is for technical knowledge and capabilities. Works under minimal supervision, with general guidance from more seasoned consultants. Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.

Required Skills

▪ Data modeling 3+ years
▪ Relational database systems 3-5 years; preferably SQL Server or Oracle
▪ Structured Query Language (SQL) 3+ years
▪ Experience with agile including contributing to story refinement/defining requirements and estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle
▪ Experience coding complex solutions to integrate, clean, transform and control data in operational and/or analytics data systems utilizing multiple architectural components in design and development
▪ Accustomed to resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work
▪ Experience collaborating with development teams to understand data requirements and ensure the data architecture is feasible to implement and subsequently implemented accurately
▪ Assembling large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional requirements
▪ Building processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, data quality controls,
dependency and workload management
▪ Defining and building data pipelines that enable faster, better, data-informed decision-making within the business
▪ Contributing to test suites (integration, regression, and performance), analyze test reports, identify any test issues/errors, and triage the underlying cause
▪ Experience with deployments, maintenance, support
▪ Experience with data management standards

Desired Skills

• Experience in the card linked offers space
• Experience with credit and debit card transaction strings for authorizations and posted records
• UML 2.x
• Experience with Python, R, and associated data frameworks (Pandas, scikit-learn, PySpark, etc.)
• Data analysis toolsets such as RapidMiner, SAS, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.
• Experience with Big Data platforms such as Hadoop, Spark, AWS EMR, Cassandra, etc.
• Experience with streaming data platforms such as Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis, Azure Stream Analytics, etc.
• 7+ years industry experience with Data Engineering
• Thorough understanding of SDLC and ability to make recommended enhancements
• Demonstrated ability to develop technical solutions that provide excellent performance when implemented
• Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies
• Ability to work in a matrix environment with minimal supervision
• Ability to work with peers in a team effort
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Excellent written, verbal and diagramming skills
