Business Support Manager

Business Overview:

Wholesale Credit is an integrated underwriting, monitoring and product management division servicing wholesale businesses in Business Banking, Global Commercial Banking, Commercial Real Estate, Global Wealth & Investment Management, and Global Corporate & Investment banking (GCIB). The GCIB Credit team supports lending to large global corporations, government agencies, and financial institutions with over $2 billion in revenues. 

Job Overview:

The GCIB Credit Business Support Manager will support the GCIB Credit U.S. organization in the execution of business strategy.  They will ensure executable management information is available to the GCIB Credit U.S. leadership team, maintain and monitor an appropriate control environment with respect to key functional activities, and manage the GCIB Credit business routines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • People: Support the GCIB Credit U.S. organization in overseeing effective performance management, learning & development initiatives, and diversity & inclusion

  • Communication: Assist in communication of GCIB Credit vision, goals and strategy through 1:1s, team meetings, town halls and other appropriate routines

  • Business partnership: Maintain strong relationships with all Lines of Business and key stakeholders to facilitate delivery aligned to business and client strategies

  • Control environment: Manage processes and routines in place to maintain an effective control environment.  Participate in relevant governance routines at a country, regional or legal entity level, including where necessary delivery of management information

  • Issue escalation: Monitor portfolio of issues for which GCIB Credit U.S. is responsible, providing regular updates to GCIB Credit leadership

  • Regulatory: Support GCIB Credit U.S. in response to regulatory changes, including liaising with other lines of business or control partners where necessary on regulatory issues impacting GCIB Credit

  • Operational effectiveness: Responsible for ongoing enhancements to the operational effectiveness and efficiency

  • Management Information & Reporting: Co-ordinate the design and implementation of management information and reporting requirements

Required Skills:

  • At least 5 years of experience of business support management in a similar business environment, or risk management, credit underwriting, or client coverage / portfolio management disciplines in a global investment bank

  • Awareness and understanding of the wider business, market and regulatory environment in which the firm operates, and how that potentially impacts GCIB Credit’s business model or client portfolio

  • Awareness and understanding of the GCIB business strategy and Enterprise Risk and Compliance frameworks

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desired Skills:

  • Ability to assess the effectiveness of arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the business

  • Project management, ability to deliver change at program level
