Head of Digital Payments

The goal of the Digital organization at Bank of America is to organize around each client to align the experience to their individual through leading content & capabilities which is timely and relevant and provides choice. In support of that, the Digital Payments organization mission is to create, build and deploy emerging payment products and services across multiple channels around the world, driving new growth for Bank of America. This global position is responsible for leading, developing and executing on both product and market level strategies the Payments Solutions.

Ideally, the Digital Payments Executive will have a mix of experience that includes an understanding for driving adoption and utilization of Digital Wallets, P2P including Zelle, Click-to-Pay (SRC), PayPal, Account to Account Transfers, Bill Pay, Real-Time Payments and other emerging capabilities. The objective is to migrate client payment behaviors to digital solutions through differentiated experiences and insights that will drive increased engagement, higher customer satisfaction, and improved operating efficiencies.

This role requires a unique combination of skills including design, solution selling, product development, critical and creative thinking, and execution. It also requires knowledge of and experience with e-commerce, payment acceptance, technology development and project management as well as a focus on risk mitigation and issues management.

The Digital Payments Executive must be a strategic thinker with strong credentials in Product

Development and Product Strategy. The Executive must have a mix of capabilities that will lend instant credibility across the team and provide the confidence to challenge existing assumptions and behaviors in order to achieve the desired outcome.

Locations: (Charlotte, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston, Jacksonville, Phoenix or New York)

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Define and implement, in conjunction with the Enterprise Payments team and the Chief Digital Officer(s), the direction of the overall payments strategy and demonstrate ability to execute on that vision

  • Deliver strategic leadership, development, and implementation, advice to business leaders across Consumer and Small Business Banking

  • Understand emerging technologies, manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, from concept ideation, through socialization, work stream planning, development and deployment

  • Build upon the vision of executive leadership; effectively create a story-line that articulates complex subject matter in a clear, concise manner to key stakeholders across the organization

  • Serve as a primary conduit for and between the digital business team, product, marketing, operations, technology, internal controls, risk, and line of business partners

  • Run and scale payment solutions with targeted performance metrics, compliance, partner/network management, and ongoing enhancements

  • Accountable for establishing strong relationships across the payments eco-system and be a champion of innovation representing the Bank in various forums and platforms

  • Manage payments initiatives from concept ideation through business case creation, socialization, phased work stream planning/management, business requirements development/collaboration/management, platform/product deployment, reporting, and future state enhancement

  • Collaborate with executive management to shape the Bank of America payments strategic roadmap; be proactive in recognizing and articulating next gen platform opportunities to establish competitive differentiation across payments channels

  • Candidates will need to think about Payments Innovation strategically, organizationally and operationally

  • Accountable for the effective resource planning, management, reporting and coordination of Projects/initiatives to deliver change of pace and in line with business requirements

Required Skills

  • Proven track record of successfully creating and implementing a digital change agenda, combined with a wealth of experience in designing payments products and services that enhance the client experience and grow revenue

  • Years of experience with e-commerce, payment acceptance, technology development and project management as well as a focus on risk mitigation and issues management

  • Deep expertise in delivering payments capabilities using agile methodology focused on new product development, digital distribution and acquisition, digital retention strategies and growth opportunities

  • Experience leading a high performing strategy & innovation team capable of maximizing impact of technology and payments value creation and adoption of new and emerging technologies

  • Bachelor's degree required
