Mainframe Storage Support and Planning Engineer, CTI - CSW & Enterprise Application Production Services & Technology

Job Description:

The Storage Support and Planning Engineer supports storage projects that are quite lengthy and involve items such as:  Director refreshes, Development replication, Data Assurance, Numerous DR tests and related tests to support new CEC's, Brocade monitoring replacement, ARC, CCI, and Audit related activities.      This role spans systems engineering activities supporting Mainframe (System z) Storage projects with varying degrees of complexity – includes system design, build, development, implementation, maintenance, operations and client support across infrastructure and software.

Responsibilities:

  • Working under minimal supervision from more seasoned consultants or managers – including supporting of senior personnel and project managers on technical projects
  • Assisting and helping train junior analysts – includes guiding and providing technical peer reviews.
  • Working on complex problems where analysis of situation or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors;
  • Exercising judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results.
  • Participating in 7x24 on call rotation.

Required Job Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years engineering experience supporting a complex Mainframe Storage (System OS/Z) environment
  • Exposure to SYSPLEX data sharing
  • Familiar with fundamental problem solving and diagnostic tools 
  • Proficient in MS Office Tools - Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, management and other technical support associates in a diverse global environment
  • Highly motivated self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Assembler, CLIST, and REXX knowledge
  • Conceptual understanding of Mainframe Operations
  • SAS and REXX knowledge
  • Ability to work 7x24 on call rotation

Leads the resolution process for complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. Information Technology degree and/or technology certifications preferred or substantial equivalent experience. Typically 7-10 years of IT experience.
