Senior Testing Specialist

Job Description:

EIT is a centralized group within Global Risk Management responsible for independent testing of operational processes within the eight lines of business and enterprise control functions at Bank of America to ensure the company is in compliance with domestic and international laws, rules and regulations, and that risk and controls procedures are operating effectively.

 

The Testing Specialist, under supervision, conducts independent transactional and process testing on a team in support of identified needs. A test is defined in the Independent Testing Enterprise Policy as "an independent point-in-time examination of one or more processes, controls, policies and procedures or data sources utilized for managing risk to assess the effectiveness of the control environment. A test is focused on answering a specific objective and has a pre-defined pass/fail criteria." Testing may include activities such as automated surveillance and transaction level testing and may be performed onsite. The Testing Specialist is accountable for quality testing execution, reporting and analysis of results. This role may participate in test script development and test design. The Testing Specialist contributes to the identification of themes and trends at the front line unit, control function and enterprise level. This role is an individual contributor in the Test Execution function.

 

This role is responsible for testing execution of tests and surveillances aligned to the Associate Investment Monitoring (AIM) division. The AIM division and testing team are responsible for identifying breaches of internal AIM policy such as: Holding period violations, Restricted List violations, Pre-Clearance violations and blackout list violations. Daily interaction occurs with senior compliance and supervisory management. The Testing Specialist, under supervision, conducts independent transactional and process testing on a team in support of needs identified by Compliance and Operational Risk Officers. Compliance testing may include activities such as automated surveillance and transaction level testing. The Testing Specialist is accountable for quality testing execution, reporting and analysis of results. This role may participate in test script development and test design. The Testing Specialist contributes to the identification of themes and trends at the front line unit, control function and enterprise level. This role is an individual contributor in the Test Execution function.

Responsibilities include:

  • The testing specialist will be monitoring daily trade activity for any breach of internal AIM policies.
  • Develop in depth knowledge of institutional products which associates trade.  Build an understanding of how AIM policy applies to each product type as well as different job roles within the firm.
  • Assist in planning and preparation for exams and audits, prepare and gather documents to respond to regulatory inquiries.
  • Apply critical thinking skills to make independent assessments, articulate recommendations and defend conclusions.
  • Build strong relationships and collaborate with the business and other risk partners including FLU, GCOR, Operational Risk and Legal partners.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ years work experience in related area
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Adaptability to dynamic work environment with multiple priorities and strict deadlines.
  • Experience in drafting policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team oriented environment.
  • Ability to communicate through verbal, written and interpretational communication skills to all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent understanding of business, markets and products
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a dynamic environment
  • Knowledge of specific regulatory environments and trading markets associated with Canada
  • Fluent in verbal and written English language

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Understanding of the Financial Industry, front office or back office experience or market and product knowledge (Equities, Foreign Exchange, Fixed Income and Commodities/Futures Options.
  • Familiar with AIM policies and how they apply to the associates of the firm.
  • Front office or middle office experience, or trading related experience
  • Experience using surveillance tools such as Actimize Surveillance
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Intellectual curiosity, anticipate risk and forward thinking with a mindset to continuously drive to become better
