Overview of Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Calgary office working closely with senior and junior bankers to help orchestrate strategic advisory and capital raising transactions across the Global Energy & Power sector. Bank of America Merrill Lynch provides valuable analytical based work experience that is focused on the financial markets and visibility with clients as a representative of a top tier global investment bank.

Responsibilities

  • Marketing, executing and structuring investment banking mandates focused on strategic and capital markets transactions

  • Overseeing and/or developing complex financial models

  • Conducting comprehensive and in-depth company and industry research

  • Preparing presentations and other materials for clients

  • Providing oversight and guidance to Analysts’ work

  • Participating in due diligence sessions

  • Communicating and interacting with deal team members

  • Managing several projects at once and working effectively as an individual and as part of a team

  • Performing various financial analyses, including valuations and merger analysis

  • Providing mentorship and training to junior team members

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree with a focus on finance, accounting, or a technical discipline (engineering, geology, etc.)

  • Financial, accounting and/or Energy (Oil & Gas, Power or Utilities) related work experience

  • Investment Banking experience preferred but not required

  • A track record of superior performance in extracurricular and professional activities

  • Strong quantitative/analytical skills, attention to detail and client focus

  • Strategic and creative thinking; distinguished written and verbal communications skills

  • Assertiveness, initiative, leadership, strong work ethic, team focus

  • Ability to learn quickly and take on new responsibilities

  • Dedication to building a career in the Investment Banking industry

  • Enrolment or completion of a CFA designation or MBA are considered an asset
