Job Title: Cloud Automation Engineer

LOB: Operational Capabilities and Analytics

Location: Bromley, Camberley, Chester or Dublin

We currently have an opportunity for a Cloud Automation Engineer
role within our Global Cloud Platform Services Service Transition team. We require a deeply technical
and experienced software engineer to focus on VMWare SDDC technologies to
automate every aspect of our environment. The wider
team’s goal is to develop a robust CI/CD pipeline to certify,
support and maintain the underlying infrastructure of the firm’s
applications.  From initial version certification thru net new builds to
upgrading the running production environment thru operational support
automation, we are moving to manage the environment as Infrastructure as Code
(IaC).

 

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Capturing detailed technical requirements from Operations
  • Partnering with other Engineering to develop a operationally ready design and solution
  • Assisting with the onboarding of the solution to Build and Operations when ready

The Team:

The Global Cloud Platform Services Service Transition team is a global team with a broad range of deep technical and
organisational skills and are involved in delivering operational efficiencies
through automation, analytics and process improvements for the wider Cloud and
Server
Build and Operations teams. We require a deeply technical
and experienced software engineer to focus on VMWare SDDC technologies to
automate every aspect of our environment. The wider
team’s goal is to develop a robust CI/CD pipeline to certify,
support and maintain the underlying infrastructure of the firm’s
applications.  From initial version certification thru net new builds to
upgrading the running production environment thru operational support
automation, we are moving to manage the environment as Infrastructure as Code
(IaC).

Core Skills:

•5-7 years of production experience in developing solutions, writing code with cloud and virtualization technologies

•Extensive code/workflow development experience working with common software languages – Ansible, Python, JavaScript and/or PowerCLI, proficiency is required in at least 2 of these.

•Source code management with GIT / BitBucket

•Total comfort leveraging JIRA and Confluence for documenting architectural and development decisions in an iterative manner

•Demonstrated understanding of VMware’s SDDC suite (vCF/ESXi/vCenter/vSAN/NSX)

•Experience with vRA vRO, vRLI, vROPS.

•Proven ability to consume and create secure RESTful APIs to facilitate integration

•Understanding of software and/or application lifecycle and the implementation of security principals throughout

•Excellent partner & teammate to peers: able to influence and resolve across organizational lines and willingness to mentor others based on your history and skillset

Desired Skills:

•Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and Jenkins

•Prior work experience in an operations role is a plus

•Networking knowledge DNS, DHCP, IPAM, VLAN/VXLAN, Virtual switch/NIC configuration, F5 BigIP is a plus

•Open Source software and code management platforms

•Experience with VMware code management products (Codestream, vRLCM) is desirable

•vRealize Network Insight, vRealize Log Insight, vRealize Operations experience is a plus

•Experience with Authentication / Authorization Protocols (OAuth, SAML, Kerberos) is desirable

  • Experience with Splunk ITSI and event analytics desirable
