Data Governance Manager

Job Description:

Global Risk Analytics (“GRA”) is responsible for developing models and analytical tools for the facilitation of Risk and Capital measurement, management, and reporting. To achieve this, GRA partners with various lines of business and enterprise functions to ensure models and analytics address both internal and regulatory requirements, complying with the requirements of the Enterprise Model Risk Policy, and providing quantitative support and expertise for individual requests and projects. GRA’s analytical remit spans the Company from Consumer Banking to Global Markets.

 

The key objectives of GRA include:

•        Develop and implement a comprehensive data provisioning across GRA sub teams aligned to Enterprise Data Architecture (“EDA”) strategy

•        Create and maintain a data governance infrastructure

•        Harmonize data expertise, tools and governance across Global Risk Analytics

•        Establish data quality controls monitoring across key data flows and business processes   

•        Provide business requirements to data providers or consumers on a timely basis

•        Manage and report on data defects across consumer products

Responsibilities include:

  • Define the data to ensure appropriate curation and use of the data

    • Performs research and discovery to identify upstream data sources that can satisfy business needs

    • Document data elements provisioned into GRA Data stores this includes business definitions, transformations, proxies and other metadata

    • Advise on data to be used for reporting

  • Create processes and procedures to ensure enterprise adherence of newly developed data processes within GRA

    • Data Requests Process

    • Change Requests Process

    • Change Management

    • Data retention

    • Data Archival 

  • Monitor and manage data quality using customer feedback, concerns, questions; internally reporting metrics; evaluating and identifying issues; and coordinating and implementing corrections regularly.

    • Document data quality rules around data elements consumed from upstream systems or stored on GRA platforms.

    • Manage the logging of data issues in the eDIM system, specifying impact, prioritization, resolution, and closure.

    • Manage data scorecard (track/report/follow up with ADS/upstream dependencies to prevent further issues)

  • Optimize workflows and communications.

    • Prioritize, and facilitate the delivery of data requests including clarifying requirement, technology teams coordination, front line units(FLU), user acceptance testing, delivery sign offs, performing post production validation, and other activities.

    • Coordinate and respond to data inquiries from audit, MRM, and regulators.

    • Conducts data proxy governance routines

    • Coordinate FLU, GRA Users, and technology teams to deliver on GRA Users requirement

    • Supply the data section in consumer models documents.

    • Certify reports before rolling them to production.

  • Monitor data usage and assist GRA teams, share best practice trends in data use, and provide insight into how and where teams can use data to help in day-to-day decision-making and reporting.

    • Perform data analysis and generate report prototypes as needed

    • Perform research and development to evaluate feasibility of new data sources, or how to satisfy requirement

  • Ensure compliance and data security. Data stewards are responsible for protecting the data—while providing information on potential risks and offering regulatory guidance.

Requirements:

•        Bachelors Degree

•        7+ years applicable and related experience in Data Governance/Data Strategy/EDM or similar

•        Truly comfortable in a fast-paced and change-oriented environment

•        Execution-oriented and results-focused self-starter able to work independently

•        Strong organizational ability, project management skills, and extremely detail oriented

•        Excellent written and oral communication skills at all levels (i.e. colleagues to senior management) and situations (i.e. one-on-one to presentations).

•        Keen judgment balancing business strategy with rigorous risk management controls

•        A pragmatic and flexible attitude towards problem solving, and a consultative working style

•        Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail in work as well as the ability to remain calm and flexible in the face of  increased demands, changing priorities and uncertain environment.

•        Possesses a strong commitment to excellence by anticipating needs, mitigating risks and minimizing potential problems.

•        Good team player with positive “can-do” attitude.

•        Subject Matter Expert in one or more consumer products systems: Mortgage, Card, and/or CVL

 

Desired Skills:

•        Programming experience in Java, C++ and/or Python.

•        Background in program management, or related field

•        Breadth of experience across businesses serving people, companies and institutions

•        Experience closely interacting with analytical and/or technology teams

Manages teams that are responsible for performing data management, complex analysis and modeling that maximizes profits and asset growth and minimizes credit and operating losses and other risk exposures. Their team would provide data / IM, analytical support on various product strategies to ensure company goals are met. Coordinates the production of databases, performance reports for senior mgt. Manages the review and analysis of trends in current population distributions and recommends strategies. Directs the development of more complex databases, program models to extract data and use databases to provide statistical and financial modeling. Oversees the data design, analysis of portfolio trends, concerning credit score cutoffs, loss trends, portfolio dynamics, and bureau scoring criteria. Integrates the analysis team with other corporate units to insure alignment of analysis with business strategies and objectives. Responsible for hiring and training Risk Analysis Specialist and Risk Analysis Analyst. Master's degree or large data experience preferred; Programming experience like SQL, SAS preferred; 7+ years experience.
