Role/Responsibilities

Global Markets Credit team within Wholesale Credit is responsible for all aspects of the credit underwriting and risk management of the Banks financing and traded products portfolio focused on assigned Global markets clients and products. Based in Hong Kong, role is in GM Credit Asia, responsible for all aspects of the credit risk management for the following two key businesses within Asia Pacific (including Japan).

  • Structured Financing Transactions (SFT) - SFT provides secured (recourse or non-recourse), collateralized financing solutions against equity or fixed income securities.

  • Structured Finance SPV Derivatives – Structured Finance SPV Derivatives business is focused on derivative credit exposure facing bankruptcy-remote special purpose entity (SPE) established for the purpose of issuing Credit Linked Notes (CLNs) or Asset Repackaging Notes (Repacks)

Structured Financing related

  • Review structured equity and/ or debt financing transaction proposals (both recourse and non-recourse deals), undertaking credit, issuer and liquidation analysis and preparing Credit Underwriting Memos with approval recommendations

  • Ongoing transaction and covenant monitoring (LTV, top up trigger etc). Monitor macro, sector and issuer specific market trends so as to ensure any early warning or risk indicator for the portfolio is identified and escalated for suitable timely action

  • Preparation of portfolio reports and reviews, including analysis of SFT exposures, any counterparties of concern and other pertinent risk issues.

Structured Finance SPE Derivatives related

  • Conducting comprehensive credit review including counterparty and derivative exposure analysis, preparing Credit Memos with approval recommendations for all trading exposures related to SPEs

  • Identifying risk in complex credit proposals and structures, suggesting approximate risk mitigants

  • Ongoing transaction and charged asset risk monitoring, ensuring any deterioration in the charged asset  portfolio is identified and escalated for suitable timely action

  • Formulate strategic view of the relevant sector/ issuer/ collateral type to ensure exposure is managed proactively on a portfolio basis rather than simply on a transactional approach

  • Undertake portfolio reviews and develop/generate reports highlighting key portfolio risk and sensitivities

Skills

  • 1-5 years of experience covering Corporates or FIs. Counterparty Credit experience will be considered as an advantage.

  • Strong credit risk analysis and conclusion-oriented analytical skills. A deep understanding as well as exposure to the derivative and financing space

  • Master degree in Finance, Business Administration or related fields. CFA/FRM or other professional qualification will be highly preferred

  • Good written and spoken communications skills in English

  • Excellent software skills including Excel, Bloomberg

  • Ability to establish partnerships across the organization (Trading, Sales, Risk and support partners) and build effective work groups, requiring strong influencing and negotiating skills
