Data Strategy Specialist

Job Description:

Manages and is accountable for delivering robust data analytics and reporting to support the management of day to day business activities for the Global Risk Analytics (GRA) organization. Data Analyst will be part of the GRA Consumer Data Strategy Team, and will focus on analytics and reporting to support multiple activities.


Responsible for the overall data management, analytics, visualizations and metrics needs including creation and maintenance of data dictionaries, conversion of business requirements to technical requirements, management and alignment of work-stream specific data to the system of record, database management, oversight of data set creation to support ongoing analytics and visualization efforts and primary GRA liaison for data development.


Duties include but are not limited to:
• Working closely with key stakeholders to understand business needs and define requirements
• Developing and delivering data analytics and reporting capabilities that allow for multiple reporting uses including scheduled, prescriptive reports as well as ad hoc queries
• Database administration and management
• Delivering required reporting per agreed upon SLAs
• Completing data analytics that will be used to guide business decisions; interpreting analysis into strategic and tactical recommendation and presenting results in a professional/compelling manner
• Documenting process and training end users on reporting/analytics tools
 

Required Skills:
• Masters Degree in quantitative discipline (e.g. Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Finance,) or other relatable degree

• Strong understanding of data design concepts. Must be able to work independently with stakeholders to create logical flow diagrams centered on the technical capabilities of the data and workflow applications.
• Technical background to include SQL, Python, Database Administration/Management and SDLC concepts
• Previous data design/development experience in Hadoop, Tableau, SharePoint, and/or Hive preferred.
• Applied knowledge of system interaction concepts.
• Highly organized and motivated self-starter who can deliver results with minimal direction
• Creative and proactive problem solver – ability to quickly grasp what the team needs and offer suggestions above and beyond what they are asking for to determine the best available solution
• Ability to identify opportunities for improving team’s capacity through the delivery of information and optimization of existing toolsets
• Naturally curious individual with the ability to quickly become expert in the various data and systems used by the team
• Data mapping and analysis skills to include mapping dissimilar data structures across multiple systems of record.
• Proficient in data analytics with a proven track record of delivering results
• Previous experience in managing large data sets, query tools, etc.
• Experience assembling impactful reporting packages
• Able to work in an extremely fast paced environment
• Strong communication, relationship, team building, and facilitation skills. Position will require interaction with technical/non-technical stakeholders.


Desired Skills:
• Expertise with SQL, Python, and Business Intelligence (BI) tools
• Experience with database management/administration: building, maintaining and managing databases
• Mastery of MS Office products (Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook) including: Expertise in Excel macros, graphs, and VBA
• Experience with SharePoint development and support
• Requirement gathering concepts. Ability to work with multiple stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate those into technical requirements.
• Experience with the Agile methodology

Enterprise Role Overview:

Responsible for independently conducting quantitative analytics and modeling projects. Responsible for developing new models, analytic processes or systems approaches. Creates documentation for all activities and works with Technology staff in design of any system to run models developed. Incumbents possess excellent quantitative/analytic skills and a broad knowledge of financial markets and products.
