Job Description:

A new Governance team has been established in order to implement a consistent governance framework across Global Equities (derivatives, financing and trading) across regions and products.  This includes implementing consistent routines for transaction approval, lifecycle events and management reporting and escalation.  Objective is to simplify and improve processes across Global Equities by consolidating governance routines, building out a governance framework where needed and champion consistency by ensuring similar levels of diligence/review, function membership across varying routines when more than one is necessary.  Increase horizontal visibility across Global Equities with a governance focus.  Find opportunities to streamline, improve efficiencies, leverage best practices and reduce redundancies.

Role/Responsibilities

The role supports the Global Head of Governance with management and implementation of overall governance and control framework for Equities.  This includes:

  • Integrate and implement efficient governance process and control framework across Equities business lines
  • Act as Secretary/Gatekeeper for various governance forums:  ensure consistency of meetings and meeting materials, point of determination in regards to thresholds for escalation and approvals, track approvals, storage of meeting materials and minutes.
  • Streamline governance and control infrastructure for product approval, lifecycle events and periodic reporting and escalation
  • Liaise with business heads, legal, compliance and operations on a day to day basis
  • Work with COO function and internal audit
  • Liaise with regulators

Requirements 

  • Bachelors’ Degree with strong academic background – concentration in Finance/Business/Science preferred   
  • Minimum of 5 years previous experience working in equity finance or equity derivatives
  • Ability to build relationships across various desks and support partners within Equities
  • Legal, COO or Compliance background a plus
  • Internal to GBAM a plus    
  • A knowledge of principles of finance
  • Strong Excel, Bloomberg and Power Point Skills
  • Excellent communication skills, highly self-organized with good time management skills and ability to deliver in tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently, lead projects, manage work streams
  • Ability to analyze complex problems/issues and find creative, streamlined and efficient solutions
  • Strong writing skills
