Architect - Enterprise Data Management Services

Job Description:

The Enterprise Data Management Services team is looking for a strong, self-motivated Technology Architect to become an integral part of the Data Resiliency Acceleration program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Create and maintain domain architecture strategies, blueprint and roadmaps showing the evolution of systems from current to target state to meet strategic business, financial and technology objectives through documentation of systems, architectures, process flows and value-chain models

  • Participate in architecture consulting to enable design decisions, lead design sessions where appropriate, manage design tradeoffs between speed to market, financial and strategic impact, and support the successful implementation of initiatives

  • Act as a control function to ensure adherence of designs to blueprints, architectural principles and enterprise standards

  • Identify risks to quickly resolve issues and conflicting priorities and influence a positive and effective outcome

  • Provide technical leadership and exposure across a broad scale of tools, technologies and architecture models through continuous mining of ideas, products and best practices

  • Leverage technical expertise to support vendor selection activities including recommendations of when to make the appropriate build vs. buy decisions

  • Support the development of prototypes and proof-of-concepts to validate designs

  • Contribute to creation and evolution of architectural patterns, principles and guidelines

  • Provide inputs to annual financial planning & other related activities

  • Provide a senior communication channel across multiple functional domains

  • Work effectively in a matrix organization with teams of architects, developers and business partners with minimal supervision

Required Skills:

  • Development or Architecture experience for multi-tiered business applications

  • Experience of production systems engineering and/or support role

  • Knowledge of OS (Windows/Unix) based infrastructure services, processing, monitoring, shell scripts, etc.

  • Extensive experience in programming languages (Java) , RDBMS (SQL)

  • High level of experience in application/network performance and availability monitoring

  • Experience in N-Tier Architecture supporting a multitude of products (Webserver, Middleware, Database, etc.)

  • Hands-on experience in software design, development and architecture

  • Strategic thinker who can link business context to technical reality

  • Able to work in a fast paced environment whilst meeting deadlines

  • Express ideas verbally and in writing to effectively communicate with and influence teammates, technology partners, business leaders and executives

  • Understand and empathize with the key challenges faced by sponsors and stakeholders

  • Manage senior stakeholder expectations and build trust relationships

  • Provide strategic vision based on balanced Risk, Technology, Process, and Resource factors

  • Hands-on development experience on languages like Java, Python, AngularJS etc.

  • Extensive RDBMS experience with Oracle, Exadata, SQL Server etc

  • Understanding of APIs, MuleSoft, Neo4J, Reporting, BI reporting tools such as Tableau

  • Working knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem

Enterprise Role Summary:

Responsible for defining an architectural vision and solution architecture which aligns with the enterprise architecture strategy, technology and platform choices. Describes the solution intent and the associated operating environment, determines the primary systems/subsystems and their interfaces, defining non-functional requirements and architectural runway to support new epics/features. Ensures the solution is fit for purpose and use by working with stakeholders, vendors/service providers, and evaluating the impact of strategic design decisions. Works across business and technology to create the solution intent and architectural vision and evolves it to an emerging backlog. Consults the business to clearly understand the business problems and technology to understand the technology challenges of the solution and finds creative solutions through practical experiments and POCs. Leads rapid shaping of a high level architecture with details filled in with emerging business requirements; ensures architecture is flexible and modular and designed to adapt easily. Utilizes the defined best practices, templates and documentation to create architectural designs; suggests improvements to best practices and templates through practical knowledge. Works with Product Manager/Owner to plan and prioritize technology focused backlog items for the architecture runway to enable business epics/features. Clarifies the architecture for the development teams to support implementation, and provides solution options to resolve any architectural impediments. Performs design and code reviews to ensure all non-functional requirements for a solution are sufficiently met (e.g. security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability). Educates team members on the technology practices, standardization strategies and best practices to create innovative solutions. Individual contributor.
