The Bank of America Cloud hosting team is seeking to fill a software engineering position focused on VMware SDDC technologies to automate every aspect of our environment.  The team’s goal is to develop a robust CI/CD pipeline to certify, support and maintain the underlying infrastructure of the firm’s applications.  From initial version certification thru net new builds to upgrading the running production environment thru operational support automation, we are moving to manage the environment as Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

Coding and workflow development leveraging JavaScript(vRO)/Python or similar languages is foundational and must be complimented with a solid understanding of the VMware SDDC infrastructure stack.  In addition, a willingness to work with other teams to debug and resolve production issues that arise from their code is integral to the success of our team.  As a financial institution, we strive to connect technology with measurable business value.  You should have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about the business, products we offer and technical challenges that we must address.

Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to add.  In addition, candidates must have the ability to collaborate effectively within, across and upward of the team they will be working in.  We are looking for builders to help us innovate the future of cloud computing within the firm.

Required Skills:

  • 3-5 years of  production experience with cloud and virtualization design and solutions
  • Extensive code/workflow development experience working with common software languages – JavaScript (vRO), Ansible, or Python preferred.
  • Total comfort leveraging JIRA and Confluence for documenting architectural and development decisions in an iterative manner
  • Demonstrated understanding of VMware’s SDDC suite (vCF/ESXi/vCenter/vSAN/NSX)
  • Proven ability to consume and create secure RESTful APIs to facilitate integration
  • Understanding of software and/or application lifecycle and the implementation of security principals throughout
  • Excellent partner & teammate to peers: able to influence and resolve across organizational lines and willingness to mentor others based on your history and skillset
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Security or related field experience

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and Jenkins
  • Prior work experience in an operations role is a plus
  • Networking knowledge DNS, DHCP, IPAM, VLAN/VXLAN, Virtual switch/NIC configuration, F5 BigIP is a plus
  • Open Source software and code management platforms
  • Experience with VMware code management products (Codestream, vRLCM) is desirable
  • vRealize Network Insight, vRealize Log Insight, vRealize Operatons experience is a plus
  • Experience with Authentication / Authorization Protocols (OAuth, SAML, Kerberos) is desirable

LOB Job Profile:

Responsible for developing and delivering complex software requirements to accomplish business goals. Ensures that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. Codes solutions, unit tests, and ensures the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear, robust and well-tested interfaces. Familiar with development and testing practices of the bank. Contributes to story refinement/defining requirements. Participates and guides team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle. Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas. Codes solutions and unit tests to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements. Assists team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work. Contributes to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance); Analyzes test reports, identifies any test issues/errors; Triages the underlying cause. Documents and communicates required information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality. Participates, contributes and can coach team members in the delivery/release (CI-CD) events. e.g. branching timelines, pull requests, issue triage, merge/conflict resolution, release notes.
