Description

The Trade Finance Operations Manager manages a small operations team supporting import, export, standby, guarantee, documentary collection, supply chain finance and related payment processing activities. The Manager will be involved in a variety of initiatives sponsored by Global Trade Operations and within Canada Wholesale Operations. This includes overseeing daily activities ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards along with adherence to procedures and regulatory requirements (e.g. client inquiries, transaction research, working with sales, credit, legal, finance, compliance, product and global trade control). The manager is responsible for supporting any new processes to improve operating efficiency and to ensure timeliness and accuracy of workflow, modifying existing procedures and analyzes to assist with  resolution of non-routine and/or complex operational problems often requiring research/involvement from other business or team member functional experts.

Responsibilities

  • Management oversight of the Canada Trade Finance group within Bank of America National Association, Canada Branch Operations

  • Ensure adherence to all key control functions within the group inclusive of anti-boycott compliance, high risk transaction awareness, AML compliance, sanctions and transactional processing requirements

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Canada Trade Finance group effectively managing all work flows supporting production activities

  • Adhere to all deadlines and internal service levels

  • Work closely with clients and business partners providing support and trade finance expertise

  • Complete month-end volume and capacity reporting, forecasting predictions and ensures adherence to all key control functions

  • Collaborate with teams on projects or ad hoc initiatives ensuring operational readiness to support any changes or new products

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience in a management role within trade finance services

  • Understanding and production experience processing commercial letters of credit, standby, guarantee and supply chain finance

  • Strong client service capabilities

  • Thorough trade finance operations knowledge and full understanding of uniform customs and practices governing letters of credit. Forecasts volumes and manages staffing levels and capacities.

  • Ability to identify process improvements and implement solutions in a timely manner

  • Ability to work in fast paced environment supporting multiple demands

  • Performance management experience

  • Risk management exposure

  • Strong leadership experience with proven track record

  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills

  • Availability to adjust working hours and work during weekends, as required to support user acceptance testing schedules or ad-hoc requirements

  • Post-secondary education preferred or comparable work experience

  • CDCS Certification not required, an asset
