Global Commodity and Cross-Asset Quantitative Strategies Research - Vice President / Director

Job Description:

Bank of America is seeking an economics/finance PhD to join its Global Commodity and Cross-Asset Quantitative Strategies Research team in London. Either at the Vice President or Director level.

Role/Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to regular publications by researching key issues in commodity markets and quantitative strategies
  • Contribute to our econometric modelling effort and to the design of systematic investment strategies in commodities
  • Interact with a broad array of internal sales and trading desks, as well as with external corporate and investor clients
  • Monitor and analyze ongoing developments in the commodity markets

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience covering quantitative strategies at an investment bank, institutional investor, or commodity trading operation
  • Postgraduate degree in economics, econometrics, statistics, or finance (PhD strongly preferred), with an excellent academic record
  • Strong quantitative skills, coupled with sound knowledge of applied econometric techniques and the ability to work with large datasets
  • Thorough knowledge of microeconomics, financial economics and financial derivatives, with a special focus on price theory
  • Some background in macroeconomics, particularly business cycle theory, and financial portfolio theory would be an advantage
  • Proficient in Python. Advanced software skills in both MS Office and one or more applied statistical packages (EViews, STATA).
  • Very good presentation skills, able to present thoughts clearly and succinctly
  • Fluent in English. Command of other languages would be an advantage, but not essential
  • Teamwork-oriented, able to work under pressure
  • Strong interest in financial markets is a must
  • Excellent writing skills
