Vice President- Equity Research, Software

San Francisco, California;

Job Description:

The Technology and Software Equity Research team covers more than 45 listed issuers, vetting over 50 potential IPOs in the sector with over $2 trillion market cap making it one of the most important sectors to Trading, Sales, Global Wealth and Investment Management.

The team is looking for an experienced Research Analyst to be based in San Francisco, CA.  The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years of experience covering the technology/software sector.  This role work alongside their Senior Analyst and Junior Analysts in all aspects from idea generation to company meetings, and will play a critical part in providing the financial modeling and qualitative analysis for ECC meetings, sales teach-ins and eventual coverage launch.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex financial modeling & valuation work
  • Write regular industry and company reports and company launch initiations from scratch
  • Develop databases integral to our research product
  • Demonstrate strong industry knowledge and business judgment
  • Work with Senior Analysts to develop key industry themes
  • Build relationships and facilitate information flow with contacts at covered companies
  • Participate and contribute to client meetings and events
  • Attend meetings and interact with key opinion leaders
  • Closely follow and understand market, industry and company specific activity, and relay to analyst when traveling
  • Seek out new, unusual sources of information
  • Leverage our robust network of industry contacts
  • Interact regularly with clients

Qualifications

  • BA, majors and/or areas of academic excellence must include Accounting and Finance
  • MUST be able to thrive in a fast-paced and intense environment.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience covering the technology /software sector
  • Experience with Bloomberg and/or FactSet tools a distinct positive
  • Strong writing and spreadsheet skills. Must be an expert at MS Word and MS Excel
  • Along with Finance and Accounting, should have basic understanding of economics, macroeconomic factors, international affairs, and policy/politics
  • Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Must have strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task
  • Must work well in a collaborative team environment
