NAS Storage Administrator

Job Description:

The Storage NAS Operations global support is a critical role providing 24x7 support across the regions. This includes weekend work for planned client DR tests and application fail overs. The team handles a lot of coordination with vendors and support like troubleshooting storage infrastructure issues on multiple vendor products like NetApp Filers, EMC Isilon devices, and various flavors or Object platforms. The team is heavily involved with performance issues and proactive issue identification/resolution and also interfaces with clients on a daily basis to understand their issues and provide solutions and guidance.

The NAS Storage Administrator’s responsibilities include:

  • Providing day to day operational support of network storage including EMC Isilon and NetApp NAS appliances, EMC and Hitachi CAS appliances and the associated support and monitoring applications.
  • Supporting tasks including trouble-shooting access and performance issues, participating in disaster recovery exercises, configuration updates and capacity management.
  • Supporting end user home and group shares including quota management and data transfer
  • Providing technical skills, applies authoritative subject matter expertise and works with all necessary parties (customer, client, engineering, application support and vendors etc.) to investigate and resolve problems in a timely manner.

Required Job Skills:

  • Knowledge of snapshot and replication technologies
  • Strong knowledge of the NFS, SMB, iSCSI and REST protocols
  • Ability to work in a 24x7 rotational on call environment

Desired Job Skills:

  • Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux and Windows servers, IP technologies, DFS, Active Directory and backups
  • Familiarity with storage support tools such as NetApp Operations Manager, NetApp Performance Manager, EMC Insight IQ and NTP Quota and File Sentinel

LOB Job Profile:

Participates in design, development and implementation of systems engineering activities, to include OS technical support, systems programming and data center capabilities. Responsible for components of complex engineering and/or analytical tasks and activities. Assists in establishment of input/output processes and working parameters for hardware compatibility and coordination of subsystems design and integration of total system. Serves as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource; provides tech knowledge and capabilities as team member and individual contributor. Will not have direct reports but will influence and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations. Provides input on staffing, budget and personnel. Typically 5 or more years of systems engineering experience.
