Position Description

Global Trade-Exposure Management (GTEM) is the central global resource for Trade Finance limit allocation related activity. We are a global team with associates in the United States, Hong Kong and China.  GTEM Risk Specialists manage the allocation and monitoring process for over 800 trade finance facilities for correspondent banks in 83 countries. Due to the ever changing trends in trade business, new control procedures continue to be developed within this function to ensure trade finance risks are mitigated. Such development is coordinated with Credit Management, Trade Product and simultaneously seeks to facilitate objectives of FI Relationship Managers. Thus GTEM serves as a central clearing house allocating limits to booking units and ensuring trade finance facility usages/pricing are appropriate for the risk reward along with advising management on complex issues and business analyses

Key Responsibilities

• Support the global trade partners to escalate, control and mitigate trade finance risk
• Provide efficient turnaround on requests for correspondent bank credit approval on trade transactions
• Develop and deepen relationships with internal clients and business partners in a professional manner
• Facilitate GTEM system database updates on limits and pricing
• Identify issues and initiate enhancement requests to support changing business requirement
• Digest complex issues and develop creative solutions
• Provide routine and ad-hoc reporting to support trade in managing and growing the business
• Perform reconciliation of data between different system of records

Key Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in Trade Finance (Letter of Credit, Standby, Trade Loans, etc)
• Basic understanding of credit approvals and allocations  
• Strong computer skills with intermediate level in Excel a must to support periodic and ad-hoc reporting
• Strategic thinking and detail oriented: Pay close attention to details is a must to ensure the accuracy of each trade transaction and being able to research on up to date information to make a prudent decision on transaction approvals
• Ability to coach others on application usage: Continuous changes and enhancements are made to the application to meet business demand. Coaching operational units and business partners on new process and reports will ensure efficient turnaround of approvals
• Excellent interpersonal skills with strong ability to influence: Building a strong relationship with business partners is a key to make strategic decision on transaction approvals, develop new risk control procedures and ensure appropriate for the risk reward
• Able to work flexible hours to support other regions

Desired Skills

• Experience in reading Credit Approval Memorandum
• Experience with Microstrategy reporting platform
• Know how to write Macros in Excel
• UAT/ QA testing
• Background in operational risk a plus
