Position Description

Center of Excellence for economic sanctions monitoring is part of Global Payment Operations (GPO). GPO is the central hub for Bank of America in playing a monumental and mission critical role in establishing, servicing, supporting and monitoring two of the most widely used electronic payment processing vehicles – Wire and ACH – in the financial services arena worldwide.  Additionally, GPO is also accountable for the CoE that reviews all of Bank of America’s customers and transactions to ensure compliance with Bank of America’s Economic Sanctions Program. CoE serves BAML’s eight lines of business, delivering global, regional and local capabilities through secure, fast and reliable technology, and people with the knowledge and experience to deliver timely and accurate review of all sanctions alerts across all products of Bank of America.  Team also has the responsibility to provide support to client facing teams and clients where needed to educate on compliance program, drive better quality of data defining the customer and their day-to-day banking transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operations Consultant:
  • Responsible for the day-to-day resolution of complex problems and the execution of complex transactions for a single site/business unit or smaller business unit(s), including research.
  • Participates in the design, development and implementation of complex products, systems and services in an operations environment. May manage projects and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives of an operations nature. Should function as the technical expert in their assigned area.
  • Major accountabilities are based on individual expertise and capabilities. Should have in-depth understanding of the business unit's operations processes and implications on other groups within the operations function and other divisions within the company.
  • Knowledge acquired through increasingly responsible operations analysis work. Clearly recognized as a content expert by peers.

  • CoE – Sanctions Monitoring
  •  Review of sanctions alert generated on customer or transactional data contents – typically referred to as Relationship Screening and Transactional Screening.
  • Drive meaningful changes and continuous process improvements to ensure CoE is effective in managing economic sanctions compliance risk through an efficient process.
  • Act as the liaison for all economic sanctions compliance matters for client management and key regional clients (where required).
  • Strategic direction for functional teams including target operating model for people, process and technology
  • Engagement in regional and global project initiatives that may impact the functional processes owned
  • Global leadership team member; accountable for supporting regional & Global management team, participation in client and employee excellence opportunities

Key Requirements

  • Knowledge and Experience with Economic sanctions compliance matters 
  • Preferred knowledge of Global Banking & Markets business area (treasury or global market products and operations)
  • Fluent in Chinese
  • Fluent in additional Asia languages will be an advantage
  • Experience & Knowledge of economic sanctions program requirements and disposition of sanctions alerts.
  • Experience in Global Banking & Markets business process
  • Possess credibility
  • Understanding of basic accounting and book keeping
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player attitude, enthusiasm and commitment
  • Ability to prioritize, use own initiative and be flexible
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and navigate change
