ADA  Accessibility Technical Analyst

Job Description:

Bank of America’s Accessibility Excellence team is focused on the delivery of top-tier accessible technology, standards consulting, training, and other services to our application design, development, and QA teams who build and maintain external facing web and mobile solutions used by customers of multiple lines of business. The team performs a number of other strategic functions such as industry tools research, serves as the enterprise ADA training subject matter expert, and acts as liaison to internal corporate compliance and legal teams among others.

Position Summary
We are seeking an individual with strong application development experience coupled with in-depth knowledge of accessibility standards and knowledge of how to apply them within application development projects. The role will primarily serve as a consultant to UX, Development, and QA teams as they execute technical project delivery efforts.

We would like to find an individual who is equally passionate about making technology accessible to those with disabilities. Some of a successful candidate’s responsibilities include:

• Analysis of UX designs (i.e wireframes) and annotation of accessibility requirements for use by development teams
• Consult with developers to provide code level guidance for accessibility implementation
• Consult with QA testers regarding accessibility testing practices and defect validation/severity grading
• General training of above technical teams regarding accessibility implementation
• Participation in team accessibility standards and technical reference collateral updates, process improvement efforts
• Evangelize accessibility across the organization
Required Skills:

• Detailed knowledge of WCAG 2.0/2.1, ARIA standards, and other industry guidelines related to technology development for accessibility
• Strong application design, development, and testing experience (Desktop/RWD/Mobile)
• Competent understanding of various SDLC methodologies from waterfall through agile programming practices
• Expertise with industry leading AT applications and functionality such as: JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack, and others
• Strong communication and excellent organizational skills
• Detail oriented, ability to multi-task, adapt to change, and effectively prioritize work to meet competing deadlines
• Creative self-starter who brings challenges to light along with proposed solutions and is able to balance line of business needs with that of our disabled customers

Career Experience & Educational Requirements
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
• 3 years web/mobile platform application development experience employing ADA/WCAG standards

TO BE USED ONLY IN ORGANIZATIONS DELIVERING SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS: Responsible for developing and delivering complex software requirements to accomplish business goals. Ensures that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. Codes solutions, unit tests, and ensures the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear, robust and well-tested interfaces. Familiar with development and testing practices of the bank. Contributes to story refinement/defining requirements. Participates and guides team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle. Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas. Codes solutions and unit tests to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements. Assists team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work. Contributes to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance); Analyzes test reports, identifies any test issues/errors; Triages the underlying cause. Documents and communicates required information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality. Participates, contributes and can coach team members in the delivery/release (CI-CD) events. e.g. branching timelines, pull requests, issue triage, merge/conflict resolution, release notes. Individual contributor.
