Role Description

We are currently seeking an Incident Response Manager to join our Global Information Security team in Chester. You will be responsible for leading and coordinating the response to, and recovery from information security incidents.

Global Information Security (GIS) Cyber Security Defense (CSD) is responsible for all aspects of threat intelligence monitoring, incident response and management, application and network security, and insider threat. GIS Incident Management responds to information security and events incidents and events in a manner that reduces impact and risk to the Bank.  The Incident Manager will be required to take charge of Information Security Incidents as they occur and coordinate and work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to resolve.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Actively handling the resolution of information security incidents
  • Establishing oversight of information security incidents and communicate analysis, containment, and remediation efforts to all involved business partners
  • Determining the root cause of incidents and work with stakeholders and responsible parties to remediate any identified control gaps or failures
  • Escalating issues to management in a timely manner with appropriate information regarding risk, action times, and root cause analysis
  • Maintaining & utilising incident response & recovery plans
  • Exercising independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
  • Leading technical bridge lines to develop quick containment solutions to cyber-security incidents
  • Collaborating with appropriate business partners and lines of business to analyse and contain information security incidents
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical business owners
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with executives and senior managers in non-technical terms while accurately encompassing risk, impact, likelihood, containment and remediation activities, and threat actor TTPs

The Team

  • You will be part of a global team that operates a “follow the sun” model and there is a requirement to work approx. 6 weekends per year on an on-call basis.


  • Familiarity with any or all of the following: security vulnerabilities, exploits, malware, digital forensics skills

  • Ability to lead technical bridge lines to develop quick containment solutions to cyber-security incidents
  • Ability to work on projects, milestones, and deliverables for business-related objectives
  • Be decisive and can make difficult decisions in what can be a busy environment
  • Exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
  • Able to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment and take action without causing an undue delay
  • Supportive and can work well as part of a team, as well as independently
  • Ability to work in a team-orientated environment with a sense of urgency and resilience
  • Be able to think outside the box and develop solutions to accomplish seemingly impossible tasks whilst remaining risk and objective focused
  • Experience with Information Security related activities
  • Experience in an operations focused information security role
  • Experience conducting analysis/investigation and containment of potential data breeches or cyber security incidents
  • Information Security certifications, such as; CompTIA Security+, SANS GCIH, CEH, CISSP or similar are desirable
  • Ability to work flexible hours, to include occasional on-call time during nights, weekends, and holidays
