Business Unit Overview 

Here in the Chester office we are looking to recruit a Production Services Lead. This is part of a global structure across a 3 site model to ensure 24/7 coverage. You will be accountable for providing correct fixes to all production job failures that occur in the processing of the daily batch cycle. The position provides 24x7 support for technical questions and procedural inquiries and has a Fixed Shift Pattern schedule of:  07:00 – 16:00 and 14:00 – 23:00. Sun – Thurs and Tues – Sat.

Responsibilities

  • Engage applications developers to gauge risk assessment and minimize potential company exposures
  • Fixes applied in a timely and safe manner so as to meet documented SLA’s regarding the completion of the batch work
  • Put forward recommendations and document batch job defects to avoid repeat occurrences
  • Monitor TWS error queue and initiate the resolution of problems as reported by the job scheduling software
  • Problem resolution organised and prioritised based on problem criticality and impact to the business.
  • Receive and communicate turnover instructions through a review of all outstanding jobs with the departing/arriving shift
  • Initiate solution attempts for all jobs whose resolution is pending
  • Discuss problems and issues encountered during the shift including root cause analysis and applied fixes
  • Follow appropriate escalation procedures, SLA’s, and policies regarding management notification
  • Assist in training other team members and new employees in the detection and resolution of difficult to diagnose problems
  • Ensure that all previously resolved problems have been documented with any required follow up activities and/or recommendations to avoid and reduce problems in the future
  • Work effectively as team member when problems require a group effort. Ensure all general policies and procedures are adhered to

Core skills

  • Preferred technical Skills include: COBOL, COBOL V5, JAVA, DB2(BMC utilities), VSAM, CICS, JCL, TWS, CA11, FILE MANAGER, TSO, release management tools, Dump Reading, Transmission protocols (NDM,FTP), ticketing systems (REMEDY) , IBM utilities, Microsoft Office Products
  • In depth understanding of IBM Mainframe batch scheduling tools (CA7 or OPC/TWS)
  • Solid IBM Mainframe (MVS) experience JCL, TSO, NDM / Connect Direct
  • Have a flexible and 'can do' attitude and a sense of initiative with the ability to learn fast and deal calmly with situations
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Remedy or a similar tool
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools
  • An understanding of ITIL certifications
