Employee Benefits Sales Desk Specialist - Hopewell, NJ

Job Description:

The Employee Benefits Specialist team partners with Banking Relationship Managers (Business, Commercial) to identify benefits sales opportunities and drive growth across Defined Contribution (DC), Defined Benefits (DB), Nonqualified Defined Contribution (NQDC), Equity, and Health Benefits Solutions (HBS) products in a specified geographic region. They will also be aligned to a geographic region of retirement‐designated Advisors to drive business development and execution. The Employee Benefits Sales Desk Specialist is responsible for the internal sales of the Employee Benefits plans. The Sales Desk Specialist is primarily responsible for sales activity and support of the field based Employee Benefits Specialists. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Partner with Banking (Business, Commercial) Relationship Managers and retirement‐designated Advisors, Institutional Retirement Sales Support team, and Internal partners throughout sales process
  • Provide centralized support for field based Employee Benefits Specialists throughout the full cycle of the sales process including business identification and development, client engagement, and servicing/deepening of client relationships
  • Facilitate new plan proposal process
  • Maintain active pipeline measurements via centralized CRM tool
  • Proactively contact Banking and Advisory partners and communicate complex strategies and sales ideas
  • Respond to all incoming business inquiries
  • Serve as liaison between various internal teams and the end client
  • Serve as remote Employee Benefits Specialist for Banking and Advisory partners
  • Maintain and develop deep knowledge of Employee Benefit product offerings/enhancements, legislative updates/environment, and sales strategies
  • Accountable for driving sales growth in Employee Benefits plan within assigned sales territory

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred
  • Series 7, and Series 66 licenses required (or ability obtain within Compliance Deadline)
  • Life & Variable Annuity licenses required (or ability obtain within Compliance Deadline)
  • Five years or more experience with Retirement or Employee Benefits plan experience (sales or client centric servicing experience preferred)
  • Strong technical expertise of Employee Benefits products (DC, DB, NQDC, Equity, HBS) required, knowledge of competitive landscape preferred
  • Ability to communicate complex information to a wide variety of personnel in a clear, concise and well‐organized manner
  • Strong interpersonal/rapport building skills are required to build relationships with Advisors, Banking Relationship Managers, and prospective clients and to enhance Bank of America’s brand in the Retirement and Employee Benefits marketplace.
  • Proficiency in use of MS Office suite of tools.
  • Familiarity with managing activities and pipeline in a CRM tool (experience with SalesForce.com is preferred)
  • Ability to travel when required (~5%)

Employee Benefits Sales Desk Specialist provide the field based Employee Benefits Specialist team with sales support. EB Sales Desk Specialists have a comprehensive knowledge of their assigned territory, Employee Benefits products, and marketing campaigns. Responsible for driving growth in Employee Benefits products within their assigned territory, making proactive calls and communicating complex strategies to Designated Advisors and Banking partners. Articulates product positioning to Advisors and Banking partners, provides investment and cost analytics, serve as a liaison to the services/operations areas, shepherds the sales process for prospective clients and serves as a knowledgeable industry and product resource. Series 7 and 63/65 or 66 and Insurance Licensed.
