The Private Wealth Relationship Manager-Wealth Planning will work closely with a Private Wealth Advisor or Private Wealth Advisor Team and partner with Wealth Strategists assigned to the market to further develop and service their client base by providing wealth planning consultative support. The PWRM-Wealth Planning will help the PWA/team develop wealth transfer and estate planning for the UHNW clients ($25mm+) to enhance client relationships, expand wallet share and acquire new clients. The successful candidate will have knowledge of Estate and Gift Taxes, Philanthropy, Trust Structures, Insurance, Income Tax Planning, and Investment Management. This includes a comprehensive understanding of Merrill Lynch’s suite of solutions, platforms, and initiatives.
Educate PWAs and clients in technical planning areas; serve as subject matter and technical resource on the topics of wealth transfer and estate planning.
Prepare presentations for client meetings on a broad range of wealth transfer strategies and estate planning topics; assist in delivering presentations at client engagements and speaking events.
Develop recommendations and assist the PWAs to implement customized planning strategies for clients.
Collaborate and partner with the Wealth Strategists and other areas of the firm including the Center for Family Wealth Dynamics, trust and insurance specialists, lending, structured desk, etc.
Serve as team liaison with outside advisors including estate planning attorneys, accountants and family offices.
Stay current on technical developments and partner with wealth strategists to access the latest whitepapers, articles and other material on topics impacting the UHNW client segment.
Actively prospect for business against established goals and services for specific client segments while actively implementing wealth transfer strategies and estate planning for existing clients.
Provide marketing and organizational support to PWA/team specific to wealth strategies and estate planning as needed
Minimum of 5 years of planning experience for UHNW families and individuals
Previous experience in the financial services industry
Law degree or CPA license
Series 7, 63/65 or 66 required
All state licenses in support of PWA or PWA Team’s client base
All product licenses in support of PWA or PWA Team’s client base
Obtain and/or maintain at least one firm approved designation
Solid tax and legal research skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to collaborate and work in a team
Ability to actively prospect for business against stated goals, gather assets, provide financial planning support, and make appropriate wealth planning recommendations
In-depth experience with computer programs (e.g. Excel, Estate Planning Tools, BNA Estate & Gift Tax Planner, WealthTec)
