Internal Control Specialist

Job Description:

The internal controls group will be accountable to the Brazil board of directors and will be responsible for coordination, monitoring, controlling and reporting the effectiveness of the internal controls framework with a horizontal,  standardized and centralized view.

Responsibilities

  • Implement tools, methodologies and robust governance to manage internal controls according to local regulatory requirements;
  • Document critical processes, controls and associated risk across all areas (horizontal approach);

    Implement standard methodology to identify risks and controls

    Map and document all areas critical processes & controls (focus on local legal entity)

  • Develop and implement testing plan to periodically attest effectiveness of controls implemented;

    Create annual testing plan

    Execute testing plan and report results

    Perform target control assessments for high risk processes/controls

    Develop action plans to remediate gaps identified through testing in conjunction with area heads

  • Implement mechanisms to report to local board of directors (Brazil ExCo) and Audit Committee the adequacy of the bank’s internal controls framework;

    Develop internal controls reports according to local regulatory standards Resolution 2554 (horizontal approach  covering all areas)

    Implement procedures to periodically inform and report to local senior management the effectiveness of internal controls framework

    Monitor remediation of deficiencies noted

Core skills and requirements

  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in cross functional risk and/or internal control functions
  • Strong  background/knowledge of risk management and control methodologies (COSO, COBIT,SOX);
  • Ability to map/perform risks and controls assessments and build up control performance indicators;
  • Ability to build strong relationships with business and support partners at all levels and across various organizations;
  • Strong knowledge of local and US regulations (BACEN - Res. 2554, 4557, CVM 501, and others / OCC, FED);
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a very detailed and efficient manner;
  • Ability to manage concurrent activities;
  • Strong problem-solving and organization skills
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese is mandatory
