Process Overview:

Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Global Banking and Markets (henceforth referred to as GBAM) franchise is a global powerhouse, providing institutional clients worldwide with access to our leading sales and trading and research franchises, investment banking services, global client relationships and product innovation. Through our platform, Bank of America Merrill Lynch serves institutional, corporate and commercial clients in the U.S. and internationally, with a broad range of products, services and client solutions. Global Banking Operations teams are responsible for operations for commercial, corporate, investment banking and government clients, as well as small business and business banking clients. These teams deliver end-to-end services and operations, and comprehensive financial services solutions. This includes credit, depository, treasury and trade delivery and support. Global Markets Operations, which supports institutional and commercial clients, and the bank’s regional technology and operations teams.

Job Description:

We are looking to recruit an individual with strong capital markets product experience and a detailed understanding of the different functions in GBAM. The individual will be a part of the GBAM Transformation and Change team which is responsible for managing strategic initiatives, centralized business performance management functions, and for providing oversight for all large-scale transformation projects, Simplify and Improve efforts and the global change portfolio for Global Banking & Markets Operations and regional T&O. The individual will have strategic responsibility of managing projects which are part of strategic GBAM Programs by collaborating with technology and Ops team.

The individual will have regular interaction with a broad range of stakeholders, including senior management in GBAM Operations and Technology globally. The role is based in Hyderabad / Gurgaon. The incumbent will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary GBAM Transformation and Change team. He/she will manage the projects in GBAM Operations program book of work, identifying and tapping into new opportunities working in close collaboration with various Global Banking and Markets Ops and Technology teams. He will be expected to create and manage the strong pipeline of technology requirements from various operations team, analyze suitable strategic and tactical solutions, help in prioritizing and development of those systems through testing and ensure optimal deployment by working closely with respective technology and operations teams across GBAM. Forging strong relations with stake holders across the globe and ability to influence them on prioritization will also be one of key responsibilities of this role. He will be expected to use his/her knowledge of processes and best practices within operations, risk management and stakeholder management to run the team in a smooth transparent manner mitigating the operational risk.

This incumbent will be required to work out of BA Continuum India Ltd. BA Continuum is a nonbank subsidiary of Bank of America, part of our Global Delivery Center of Expertise in the bank, which has more than 15,000 employees working across offices in Gurgaon, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai.

    • Create a high performance culture to add value to GBAM Ops through various improvements by bringing together the operational/technical expertise and drive through more efficient ways in Operations
    • Work with the global stakeholders to ensure the book of work from India Ops gets prioritized for tech solutions 
    • Establish and monitor dashboards to perform review of execution and improvement ideas
    • Manage process escalations by working with stakeholders
    • Identifies key global and local influencers to ensure work gets delegated to respective team member
    • Manage workload to ensure effective and efficient utilization of technology resources
  • People
    • Required to maximize the potential within Ops to identify change agents and align talent needs to meet/exceed business goals
    • Identify, evangelize and create a team with the right mix of resources across teams for successful delivery of initiative/project
    • Tracks and measures team performance
    • Ensure the team adheres to the organizational policies and procedures

  • Stakeholder Management
    • Build good relations with line of business and technology stakeholders in India by discussing feedback on performance around  Operations and Tech collaboration

    • Build good relations with internal support stakeholders like HR, Technology etc.
  • Set strategic direction
    • Person is required to demonstrate deep understanding of business and leverage it to define a convincing plan for the future
    • The individual should also identify opportunities to reengineer, reinvent and add value to the business by translating strategies into definite actions with transparent accountability
    • Review the footprint of the technology from Operations perspective and work towards expanding the scope of work
    • Pro-actively identify and resolved team issues and concerns
    • Keep a tab on upcoming industry developments to identify and mitigate any upcoming issues / risks
  • Risk Management and Control
    • The individual will need to ensure that offshore change management remains consistent and compliant with country / BAML policies and management standards
    • Need to ensure appropriate control and governance is maintained across all India based teams
  • The role also calls for strategic partnership with other LoB leaders, wherein s/he will help outline and build the internal service delivery plan PAN India
  • Accountable for anticipating and managing risk/reward trade-offs and ensure proper risk disciplines are in place to enhance the bank’s reputation among stakeholders
  • Be pro-active and engage control partners/ technology to identify and mitigate operational risks


  • Experience: 14+ years of operational management and transformation/change experience in Global Banking and Markets
  • Education : A qualified Operations Professional with professional degree like CA / MBA from a reputed institute

    Mandatory Skills:

    • Detailed understanding of the landscape in Global Markets or Global Banking
    • Cross Asset class Knowledge
    • Has proven experience managing regulatory compliance and implementation of control framework initiatives
    • Has a proven ability to apply strategic thinking to multiple, complex organizational and business issues, and has ability to translate into practical plans for project execution
