Position Description

SALM (Strategic Asset Liability Management) is one of the key areas within Corporate Treasury. SALM employees interact daily with internal and external constituents including lines of business (LOBs), other CFO functions such as Balance Sheet Management (BSM), Corporate Treasury Finance, Enterprise Capital Management (ECM), and Liquidity Risk Management (LRM), internal control partners, regulators, market participants and investors. The mission of SALM is to ensure Bank of America Corporation and all its subsidiaries are sufficiently funded at all times.  The team strives to utilize its global presence to provide efficient funding strategies across the enterprise in the most cost effective manner, while managing the risks associated with those strategies.

The SALM team manages enterprise liquidity and ensures that funding is maintained at levels sufficient to operate in normal and stressed scenarios. SALM is tasked with forecasting the sources and uses of funds across a variety of entities and currencies, taking into account business input and projected market conditions in order to effectively manage the Corporation’s key cash and liquidity positions. Implementation of our funding and hedging strategies necessitates flawlessly executing transactions with internal and external counterparties in accordance with liquidity and capital constraints, internal guidelines, legal limitations and regulatory directives.

The Treasury group provides an opportunity to gain broad knowledge about the company and its many businesses as well as the global markets in which we transact.  One’s day to day experience will be varied and challenging, and will allow you to extend your skills within various disciplines, such as market analysis, short-term money market execution and real-time liquidity risk management.

Key Responsibilities

Funding Execution

  • Execute money market, foreign exchange, and bond transactions to meet funding and collateral needs
  • Quote internal funding levels to client facing businesses
  • Develop pricing models and analyses to support funding execution activity
  • Monitor risk exposures and ensure compliance with risk limits and guidelines

Forecasting and Balance Sheet Governance

  • Analyze and explain actual vs. plan funding variances
  • Collaborate with Liquidity Risk Management staff on key initiatives such as contingency funding plans and liquidity dashboards
  • Prepare Asset and Liability Committee and Liquidity Risk Management Committee presentation materials
  • Ensure compliance with applicable liquidity policies and metrics


  • Produce daily funding and liquidity reports
  • Respond to regulatory requests and enquiries as required
  • Write macros in VBA to automate liquidity analytics and reports where possible


  • Collaborate extensively with Global Funding peers as well as support partners in Finance, Risk Management and Operations
  • Respond quickly to ad hoc requests from senior management
  • Drive process improvements and implement new systems as required
  • Participate in regional / global funding projects and initiatives

Job Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree with quantitative focus
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • VBA knowledge required
  • Word and PowerPoint proficiency required
  • Fluency in verbal and written Japanese required to be able to have local support interactions with internal and external parties
  • Fluency in verbal and written English required to be able to communicate with APAC and Global internal stakeholders
  • No previous experience required
