Summary of Position

Philanthropic Client Managers (PCMs) are experts in the management of a diverse portfolio of philanthropic investment management and trust accounts. They are responsible for providing client support and executing our fiduciary duties in compliance with all laws, regulations, policies and procedures. PCMs are also accountable for considering the unique aspects of their client’s circumstances in order to proactively provide strategic advice and solutions for nonprofit and private philanthropy accounts. Additionally PCMs have shared responsibility with the Senior/Institutional Sales Director (ISDs), Institutional Client Advisors (ICAs), Private Client Advisors (PCAs), and National Practice Experts (NPEs) for the management and growth of their relationships. The role will also be responsible for delivering  a Bank of America Private Bank branded client service experience, as well as enhancing overall client satisfaction for our largest and most valuable relationships.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Primary point of contact for clients owning quality of client service support, working closely with and providing leadership to supporting client service team 
  • Professional delivery of client service and management of philanthropic accounts including compliance with all regulations, policies and procedures, managing fiduciary risk and ongoing discovery to understand clients’ needs to deliver appropriate solutions and advice to meet clients’ needs.
  • Successfully work with Centers of Influence (COIs) and the professional community to develop a network of external referral partners
  • Drive relationship expansion opportunities for existing clients and drive new business in area of expertise and specialization, in partnership with sales colleagues.
  • Collaborate with teammates to deliver our full array of integrated solutions to clients
  • Promote the full breadth of our philanthropic services and solutions internally and externally to grow business
  • Escalate remediation issues to Philanthropic Fiduciary Manager (PFM) and participate in remediation activities as required
  • Collaborate on thought leadership and best practice development, sharing their area of expertise and specialization
  • Deliver presentations at regional and market level conferences, seminars and other venues
  • Provide subject matter expertise and assistance in vetting opportunities, the ongoing discovery process and review/preparation of presentation to families, boards and committees

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Institutional nonprofit and/or private philanthropy industry and sector expertise
  • Strong communication and influence/collaboration skills
  • Significant knowledge of the nonprofit sector, trends and the legal, tax, investment and compliance aspects of philanthropic administration
  • Strong consultative and advisory skills with ability to conceptualize and position ideas and solutions
  • Effectively provides advice to nonprofits and private philanthropy clients
  • Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise capabilities and ability to work in team environment, both within the Bank of America Private Bank and across the Bank of America franchise
  • External visibility through active involvement in role related networking and affiliated opportunities
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and internal partners that helps drive trusted relationships and client delight
  • Proactively manages problems and issues, assess business risk and escalate identified issues to partners
  • Growth mindset

Desired Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of successful experience in managing philanthropic relationships with nonprofit and/or high net worth clients (or direct philanthropic and/or nonprofit experience)
  • Demonstrated ability in relationship management and fiduciary responsibilities
  • Client service quality ownership orientation
  • Proven team leadership capabilities and desire
  • Ability to partner and collaborate internally navigating across the enterprise to enable full support of client needs
  • Depth of knowledge in specific area of philanthropic specialization
