Global Markets Risk Manager

Job Description:

An opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join the Global Markets and Financial Risk team (GMFR) at Bank of America. GMFR is responsible for managing market risk in the Bank’s Global Markets line of business. Global Markets operates globally, serving clients across all major asset classes.

Responsibilities

GMFR’s role as a 2nd line of defence function is to independently review and challenge the risks taken by the Global Markets business. The successful candidate will be assigned to cover market risk of a specific asset class.

Risk managers are expected to:

  • Identify risks in trading portfolios, trading strategies, new products and non-standard transactions. Identify external risk factors which could impact profitability or financial resources such as capital.
  • Ensure identified risks are properly measured and analysed
  • Monitor risk exposures and provide insightful information to stakeholders including executives, governance committees and regulators.
  • Manage risk by ensuring effective controls and risk limits are in place.
  • Ensure the Global Markets business operated within the agreed risk appetite.

Core skills:

  • Excellent analytical skills, with a Quantitative mindset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesise information into a clear, concise message
  • Inquisitive, intellectually curious and detail-oriented with strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively challenge and build consensus across different risk and control functions and the front-line unit
  • Self-driven and positive under pressure

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree with a quantitative component.
  • Post-graduate qualification is an advantage

Experience:

  • Experience in financial services.
  • Previous experience of working in Risk Management, or able to be demonstrate an interest and motivation to work in risk management.
  • An understanding of risk management practices would be an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of financial instruments and asset classes traded in global markets.
  • Derivatives knowledge is an advantage.
