Position Summary

Network Operations organization is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) who has good experience in routing, switching, wireless and SDN technologies. This position will work with Engineering, Service Delivery, Tools & other Operations teams to deliver Best in Class service levels for the Data network. The candidate should have experience with networking technologies, monitoring tools, Agile methodologies, and writing software for network automation. This includes, reducing the toil of manual work, repetitive work including working on network configuration, end-to-end traffic analysis and troubleshooting.

Required Skills

The engineer should possess expert level skills in one or two fields with a wide breadth of knowledge across multiple technologies and software development skills.

  • 5 years' Hands on experience with Networking technologies Routers, Switches, Firewall, Proxy, DDI, Load Balancing, AAA, SDWAN, Wireless. (Cisco, Arista)

  • 4 years' experience with software engineering/development •Experience with Optical Networking Technologies

  • Experience with debugging complex networking problems •Experience with designing, building & operating large scale network systems/services

  • Knowledge on Python, Ansible, similar

  • Knowledgeable on JIRA, Confluence

  • Ability to work in a UNIX based environment, including intermediate level sys admin tasks, without supervision.

  • Proven ability to effectively collaborate with others, initiate action and adapt to change.

  • Proven ability to make tough decisions and accept challenging assignments.

  • Proven Team Player •Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, calm under pressure.

  • CCNP level skillset is preferred or other applicable technical certifications

  • Ability to work on a rotating oncall schedule nights and week-ends

  • Good knowledge of Agile framework & SCRUM ceremonies

Desired Skills

  • SRE individuals in addition to the technical skill set, should also have some specific personality traits

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or equivalent preferred

  • Excellent oral and written communication. – Must be able to communicate at all organizational levels

  • Experience with automating infrastructure, testing & deployments

  • Experience with monitoring & observability, such as Splunk, HPNA, Forward Networks, and Sevone

  • Understand configuration management with tools such as Puppet

  • Understand containers, such as Docker or Kubernetes

  • Hands-on experience with using source control: Git, GitHub

  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux shell, can write shell scripts

  • Strong analytical skills. – Must be able to think outside the box.

  • An impatience with drudgery & toil

  • An eye for details, helps to prevent foreseeable issues

  • A good sense of the big picture, helps to write better code knowing how it fits into wider system
