Business Unit Overview:

The Global Futures and Options Exchange Traded Derivatives (ETD) Client Margin Team is currently seeking to hire a Margin Analyst to join our expanding Team within Global Collateral Operations.

F&O and OTC Clearing is part of the Global Markets and Financing & Futures (GMF&F) group, which is strategically positioned between both Equities and FICC (Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities) to leverage the resources of the entire global organization. The ETD Margin Team provides multiple services to clients trading multiple products on various exchanges and is a business and risk aligned function responsible for managing BAML collateral exposure and valuations to help minimize credit, market and reputational risks associated with the ETD business activity.

The successful candidate will be required to provide margin support on the day to day Initial and Variation Margin Requirements for our EMEA Clients who trade ETD and OTC Cleared Swaps on BAML membership at multiple exchanges and clearing houses. You will be responsible for ensuring that client margin calls are agreed and settled in accordance with industry standards and regulatory guidelines whilst working closely with our key partners across Trading, Sales, Collateral Optimisation, Treasury, Product and Valuation Control, Legal, Compliance, Risk and MO/Ops teams to deliver exceptional service and support to the Chester client base. 

Once the successful candidate has developed strong front-to-back understanding of the margin process and fully understands the risks associated to the F&O Margin CSR Role, expectations are for the margin analyst to assist in the evolution of the ETD Chester Margin function and aid in the ad hoc projects to streamline processes.

Responsibilities

Work closely with the F&O and OTC Clearing Sales Desk and internal stakeholders to support the business and perform Margin Responsibilities such as:

  • Developing a complete understanding of the bank policies and departmental controls and procedures

  • Timely management of Futures & Cleared Swaps client margin settlements whilst minimizing risk and providing a high level of client service

  • Daily break management and support for all ETD & cleared swaps related client accounts

  • Support collateral investments and bookings as directed by client and participant

  • Support client and participant in any special ad-hoc requests

  • Support / Process Client FX transactions and associated bookings

  • Appropriate escalation of risk issues to the appropriate channels in a timely manner

  • Contribute towards simplifying any complex, inefficient processes and show demonstrable improvement

  • Respond to Front Office enquiries and clearing issues

  • Control framework, including risk self-assessments and escalation through the Operational Risk Framework

Requirements

Essential:

  • Solid focus on control issues, processes and procedures through the use of technical and analytical skills

  • Thorough understanding of risk concepts and risk management practices

  • Ability to work diligently and independently with the drive to ensure necessary work is completed to a high standard

  • Ability to work under pressure and hit deadlines

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and time management skills

  • Commitment to challenging the status quo and promoting positive change

  • Relationship management and ability to liaison with business people at all levels

Preferred:

  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills within exchange traded Futures and Options

  • Working knowledge of  Futures, Options, CDS, IRS and bond  products is an advantage

  • Proficient Excels skills (Pivot Tables, Vlookup and basic VBA knowledge)

  • Understanding of the regulatory environment and legal entity strategy
