Returning Talent – Programme Overview
Our Returning Talent Programme is aimed at individuals with a financial services background, who have taken a career break for at least 12 months and are looking to return to work.
You may have been a stay-at-home parent or care giver, spent time supporting a partner in the Armed Forces, or simply had a career break. If you’re ready to restart your career, we’d like to hear from you.
As a participant, you will spend a few days in our London, Chester or Dublin office taking part in a series of speaker sessions and workshops designed to support your transition back to work, with practical guidance on managing your career search, brushing up your interview skills and learning how to balance your work and home life.
You will also have the opportunity to explore the changing workplace, build your professional network, access executive coaching and gain insight into Bank of America Merrill Lynch as a potential employer.
We’ve supported over 300 ‘Returners’ since the programme launched in 2012, with many going on to secure roles at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and other firms.

“Returning Talent was a fantastic opportunity for me to take the necessary steps towards reigniting my career after taking an extended break to raise my children. It was refreshing to meet like-minded people in a similar position to me. The workshop facilitators offered excellent advice on how to identify my transferable skills, play to my strengths and realise that taking a career break can be extremely positive.”
Senior operations analyst, Risk and Control, EMEA (Chester)
“Not only did the bank’s programme introduce me to other men and women who’d taken a career break, it also helped to highlight the strong areas of my CV – importantly, it gave me a boost of “I can do this” confidence.”
Senior business control specialist, Global Markets Operations, EMEA
“BofAML's programme helped me understand the environment I was going back to and establish a practical plan for doing so. Meeting senior management at the bank, and receiving advice about job hunting and balancing a new role with family commitments, was invaluable.”
