Global Middle Office Summer Intern Program

Our Business

The Global Middle Office (GMO) Group is primarily a control function responsible for providing assurance over data and processes used to record Risk, P/L, Balance Sheet and Financial Results. The seven GMO functions that are critical to ensure business process control:

  • New Business Development: Initiating new product setups and coordinating operations processes
  • Trade Capture Substantiation: Ensuring that new transactions are accurately and consistently recorded
  • P&L Validation: Validation of P/L through analysis of economic components
  • Risk/Position Validation: Proving risks/positions daily
  • Balance Sheet Substantiation: Confirming completeness, accuracy and validity of balances
  • Event Monitoring: Monitoring for business and positions which have event exposure
  • Front-Back Process Oversight: Ensuring no control gaps for timely and accurate P/L, Balance Sheet and Position reporting

Overview

An intern in Global Middle Office may work with various business representatives to design workflows for new products as well as develop and implement automation solutions to capture processing efficiencies.

Summer interns are called on to:

  • Research and Present information to the Global Middle Office
  • Demonstrate understanding of product/industry knowledge
  • Coordinate with professionals throughout the organization, including senior management, group heads, Sales and Trading and other analysts

Qualifications

Candidates must demonstrate a combination of academic aptitude, quantitative skills, strategic and creative thinking skills. Interns are required to manage several projects at once and work effectively as an individual and as part of a team. Some common driving characteristics we look for:

Training

The summer program kicks off with an orientation session where you’ll learn some Bank of America’s basics: technical skills and professional skills that will make your summer experience all the more valuable. Training will continue throughout the summer as you participate in presentations and other group and individual projects. Outstanding performers may be considered for a full–time position upon graduation.


Locations

Summer analysts work in New York, Charlotte, or Chicago. Specific assignments are made prior to the analysts first day and are based on candidate preference and business need. Throughout the recruiting and summer internship process candidates have the opportunity to learn about the various Global Middle Office functions and meet team members.
