Global Risk Management

Our Business

GCIB Risk Management is responsible for managing the credit, market and operational risks associated with the credit portfolio and trading products within the Global Corporate & Investment Bank (GCIB). Analysts work closely with the origination, structuring and distribution arms of these businesses to ensure the appropriate levels of due diligence, risk tolerance and shareholder perspective have been applied in the risk taking decision process.


Overview

Summer interns will work in either the Financial Institutions Risk Management or the Global Markets Risk Management teams. Interns are involved in:

  • Performing intensive qualitative and quantitative due diligence on the client and industry
  • Participating in structuring, underwriting and documentation of syndicated credit facilities
  • Researching, writing and presenting financial industry analyses supporting company and portfolio decisions
  • Evaluating transaction and relationship risk-adjusted profitability to facilitate the allocation of capital
  • Financial Institutions Risk Management: Managing the bank's credit risk exposures arising from its trading operations. Products traded include credit, interest rates, foreign exchange and equities, together with a wide range of derivative products on these asset classes.
  • Global Markets Risk Management: Managing the bank's market risk exposures arising from its trading operations. Products traded include credit, interest rates, foreign exchange and equities, together with a wide range of derivative products on these asset classes and combinations of these asset classes. Analysis covers the production of Value at Risk, stress and various other risk metrics used in the management of the trading business, together with ad hoc qualitative and quantitative risk assessments.

Qualifications

Candidates must demonstrate a combination of academic aptitude, quantitative skills, strategic and creative thinking and written and oral communications skills. In addition you must have obtained or are realistically expecting to obtain a minimum 2:1 degree or equivalent.


Training

Bank of America's summer analyst programme is the ideal opportunity to gain an introduction into the world of investment banking. The 10-week programme kicks off with an induction week covering core skills before you hit your desk where you will work along side our fulltime associates. Throughout the summer, as well as receiving support from your line manager, HR and a buddy, you will also experience a number of social and educational events giving you a great insight into Bank of America. If you perform well over the summer, you may go back to university with a job offer for the following year enabling you to truly focus on your studies.


Locations

Analysts will work in Canary Wharf, London.
