Capital Markets

Our Business

World-class debt origination and syndication require premier sales, trading, research and capital markets capabilities. Our sales force maintains active relationships with a broad universe of institutional investors, and our traders are highly experienced at making markets and delivering exceptional execution on behalf of our clients. Our research specialists deliver strategic, forward-looking analyses to help clients evaluate relative value and risk characteristics of various credits, whereas our debt capital markets specialist teams deliver creative solutions for issuers and investors across all asset classes, including high grade, high yield, asset-backed securities, mortgage-backed securities and syndicated loans.

Overview

Sales and trading professionals together with capital markets product specialists form the core of the global markets business. This is where currencies, interest rates, derivatives and debt instruments are traded across the financial markets and across the globe. Clients include professional counterparties (like other financial institutions), hedge funds, institutional investors (like pension funds), multinational corporations and leading local companies. Working closely together as a team: the research team provides market analysis and up-to-the-minute ideas; the traders price the products and manage the risk; the sales teams match the investment opportunity to the client and close the sale; and the capital markets specialists identify the best funding solution for the client and work with our bankers to structure and price the transaction, and successfully bring it to the global financial markets.

Placed in a sales, trading or specialized capital markets product group position on a specific product desk, Analysts analyze, structure and sell debt securities; execute innovative financial risk programs; and provide integrated solutions to corporate clients and institutional investors, through:

  • Tracking current market, industry and company activity
  • Developing economic forecasts and research
  • Providing critical data and insight on companies, industries and transactions
  • Demonstrating understanding of client objectives and our comprehensive suite of products and services
  • Preparing and presenting new ideas
  • Conducting client due diligence and advanced financial modeling
  • Structuring, pitching and executing transactions in close coordination with professionals throughout the organization, including senior management, group heads, senior economists, product specialists, corporate bankers and fellow Analysts.
